A New Mythic Approaches-- “Pawn Shop” Zuul Goth.

Grimborn Bloodeye has some nice art and a nice theme going for him being a cold hearted, battle axe wielding warrior, but honestly, who is going to use him?

If there are no restrictions, Zuul Goth is better in every single way. This guy only has a max chance of killing an enemy at a 60% chance if you freeze and bleed every enemy, which can be difficult at times. And this will probably favor the AI, if you set him in defence, as I have had some bad experiences already with the Consort of Darkness being summoned by those pesky daemonic portal gems.

You could use him with Baldr because he helps create more skulls being a blue ally, but you risk not killing an enemy and giving up your turn. I can see him having use in Giant/Stormhiem restrictions in pvp, but that’s where his potential probably ends. You also sacrifice another supporting troop like The Onyx Giant, faster start or another form of power or protection.

I think this guy needed a follow-up if you got a kill. Something like, “if an enemy dies, create a mix of 20 blue gems and skulls.” He’s never going to be changed, but he was on a glacier’s edge of being a better mythic.

What this guy needs is for his boost ratio to be doubled, from 5x to 10x. He’d still be worse than Zuul’goth in a number of meaningful ways and only “better” than him in a select few, but a “guaranteed kill” if you can trigger freeze/bleed on all four enemies would feel mythic.

Boost of 20x would be fair for a viable mythic
Even a legendary: Kerboros has a fixed 40% chance of killing (devour).

Good points guys. A higher boost ratio would have been justified. I think that the devs got caught up in making Grimborn Bloodeye like The Archduke and The Consort of Darkness. The main problem with that concept is that we have ways to increase their magic so that they get a higher kill chance, whereas this new mythic only has his boost ratio to help him get the instant kill.

I just want to say that I love the artwork and themes of both Grimborn and Grimhorn to go with the winter season. Maybe the devs held back on making them more powerful so that we only get those couple of mythics every year that are actually useful…

One of the fun things of looking at the spoilers is seeing the progression on how troops are adjusted.

The original was not good. That’s the nicest thing I could possibly say.

Kezef brings up power creep in the spoiler topic on occasion and for me this mythic was not the hill I want to fight for.

That being said, I don’t think this mythic should be compared to Zuul’Goth. ZG is a boss crafted by 8 Power Orbs (even if it is 2024) and this is one of the million monthly Mythics. I’d think it’d be a bigger problem if this Mythic was better than ZG for a lower mana cost.

Do I think this Mythic is even average? not really, no. so I’m totally on board if people find ways to improve it.

but… I’d take my chances on this Mythic over Asteroth, the current campaign Mythic…
