Flinthammer’s Tower Flinthammer’s Tower will be the only Mythic Troop available in Glory, Gem, Guild & VIP Chests for the next 7 days.
Cheeks
Should at least hit twice with heavy splash or do true heavy
Stun all effected or do something cooler than stun
No one cares about knock to back
50% skull reduction on a mythic when there are epics n legends with 65%
Third trait is buns
N im not complaining i know they cant all be winners but just putting my thoughts out there for those thinkin about throwing keys or not
Troops that have armor boost ratio to damage:
Flinthammer’s Tower, 1:1, to 1 target heavy splash, so effectively x2.5 max, less if hitting empty adjacent slot(s) or top/bottom target;
Gaard’s Avatar, 2:1, to all, so effectively x2 max, less if fewer opponents or submerged;
Commander Dawnheart. 2:1. to random 4, so effectively x2 total;
Amphib-o-bot, 2:1, to 1 target;
Lady Garnetia, 3:1, to 1 target;
Mechataur, 3:1, to 1 target light splash. effectively x0.5 max;
Rowanne, x2 scatter, so less if opponent submerged;
High Paladin, 2:1, to strongest 2, effectively x1 max;
Smash-o-bot, 3:1, to first;
Paladin, 1:1, to 1 target;
Warmadillo, 4:1. to 1 target;
Bombot, 2:1, to all, effectively x2 max, less if fewer opponents or submerged, self-destruct.
Settite Warrior, 1:1 scatter, but can use armor of any chosen ally rather than self.
Obviously, if Flinthammer’s Tower can fire 2 heavy splash, its boost ratio will certainly need to be dialed down, to 2:1 or at most 3:2.
But I agree, current 1:1 ratio doesn’t sound attractive enough in this era of power creep. I would like it increase to x1.5, but change troop type to dwarf/tower. It’s a tower in name, so why not a tower in type.
Straight on the shelf for dust collection
I wouldn’t use him even if the boost ratio was 1:2.
Sigh. Is there a dwarf with better spell damage than this troop? While not outstanding in all troops, it is already among best dwarves.
Flint Tower would be more convincing if it wasn’t immediately after Onouris.
Flint having 24 mana cost is also way too high. Something I would only want at around 20 mana.
I wouldn’t use it for a Construct Guild Wars and the way Dwarves are designed currently with all of their skull options, I wouldn’t use it for Dwarf Guild Wars either.
Mrs. Krinkle is more fun to use with Excavator for Dwarf restrictions. (When you can use Wand of Stars and don’t have to use Apothecary).
And for Khaziel, I will probably still use The Empress to boost up Ahries to one shot troops and keep gaining momentum with the explosions.
In all honestly…I don’t think anything really changed at all.![]()
Absolutely garbage. The heck with these bad mythics
I’m complaining. Sick of the garbage mythics
This mythic is a heavy hitter in a kingdom that is largely lacking in heavy hitters. It’s not a self-sufficient murder machine, but it’s going to do a lot of damage in a screaming hurry with the right supporting cast.
Just thinking about the possibilities of an all-Khaziel set-up, I’m inclined to futz around with Empress - Apothecary - Flinthammer - (whatever)
It’s competing with Ahries. I don’t love Ahries, but it is 20 mana and is Empress friendly and potentially self-looping.
Empress applies to the last slot so that (whatever) is probably going to have to be moved ahead of Flinthammer. What is that (whatever) for Khaziel? A hero? non-hero?
Curse then stun would have made this usefully for slowing down elementalist and the like especially with knock to back which is tactically pretty useful in some instance, but as it stands pretty plaaah….
This troop is a new level of garbage.
There are better epics than this. What the heck went wrong here in releasing this new troop?
Promote Yao to mythical, and demote this one to epic
Obviously, Flinthammer has to be in the last spot if he’s going to get amped by Empress. I was just listing the combination of units that came to mind, not trying to write them in their deployment order.
As for the fourth? Two things come to mind for me:
A Runepriest Hero with certain weapons would work so long as there isn’t too much color conflict with filling the troops behind. My first instinct is to suggest Grudgekeeper (blue/yellow), which would create a lot of red/brown for the Tower as part of its’ spell while the Runepriest class’ third trait would provide boosts to Flinthammer (and Apothecary) on 4+ matches. Probably as tank, with the idea that Rock Solid giving Barrier would aid with survivability.
The other idea that comes to mind is a Rock Troll installed as tank. It comes with Stoneskin, and used in concert with Apothecary can rapidly fill the Tower.
Which probably leaves the suggested deployment order to be Hero/Rock Troll - Empress - Apothecary - Flinthammer’s Tower.
Ahries has self-looping potential, but Flinthammer has (IMO) significantly higher damage potential and the ability to choose a specific target and therefore focus on the “most dangerous” enemy. It’s a trade-off.
You guys are honestly thinking too hard. Titan/Mountain crusher (or Elementalist), Apothecary, The Empress/Ahries is pretty good for Khaziel restrictions (and Underspire). Flinthammer’s Tower can speed up the initial fights, but he would probably fall off after the 3rd area. Might as well just use Ahries when it one shots in the early stages anyway because it usually fills itself up because it isn’t mana blocked.
For Dwarves, I personally like using Excavator with Mrs. Krinkle. A lot more fun to use, and when you don’t need Apothecary, Wand of Stars is too good to pass up.
Reducing his boost ratio from 1:2 to 1:1 was unnecessary imo, and he probably needed to explode 5 gems when an enemy died from his spell, to give him some momentum. You have to put in extra work to make him good, and then…he just does one big smack.
x1 magic + x2 armor boost is about equivalent to x7 magic. Even single target of such damage is bordering broken. Heavy splash of such damage is surely out of bond.
Rowanne is the only troop with x2 armor boost, because her spell is scatter damage.
Even so, Flinthammer’s Tower needed a better follow-up (and we have Stonehammer and Elementalist to stun anyway, knock back is useful for Underspire Sentinels, but that’s about it).
Exploding about 5 gems after killing an enemy could have gone a long way to making him better. If you want to go down the unrestricted, armor boost route–nothing beats Tesla. Period.
Agree and agree.
Tesla is brokenly strong, after they raised it ratio from 4:1 to 3:1. For an evenly matched opponent, that’s about x8 magic true scatter, or takshaka with 4 hits. But we should note that it’s scatter true. Imagine if it were heavy splash true…
I like the true damage skull one better for dwarf or mrs krinkle.
