A few words before 3.3

Hi kuro-whatever i just want to say that judging by the seeming familiarity everyone has with you i gather that you are or were well known here. Well i am kind of new to commenting but i have been reading here for a while. Responses like yours is the reason i rarely comment. Your words were unwarranted and unnecessarily hostile. I dont understand why my opinion on the 90+% win rate would garner such a response. I guess that will teach me for participating in a conversation.

Yeah. Doing about 500-600 battles in one week kinda escalates how quickly something grows old.

Sentence structure like that implies that you didnā€™t listen to spoken word that canā€™t or wonā€™t be repeated. Something that is completely irrelevant here, where you can read and easily copy letters from someoneā€™s username that is right there on screen.

So that means youā€™re trying to inflate yourself? I gave you a genuine compliment, followed by the comedic accent of what had become a running joke in my post. Calling me hostile for this while returning unwarranted hostility is kind of petty.

You are intentionally misconstruing my words and intent to paint me in a negative light. I will give you that the second part of me quoting you might be seen as inflammatory, but thatā€™s because I started poking fun at everyone who chose to debate a part of the original post, a cited winrate with an arbitrary number, rather than the topic that the number was used as a part of.

Or you could properly attribute my response to what I have actively been saying it is a response to, instead of trying to throw gas on a perceived fire with an intentionally inflammatory response like that.

Seems you picked the right name for yourself, friend.

Or i could take an insult as an insult and learn something from the exchange. This is exactly why i dont make comments here. I am now 3 for 3 on my comments getting hostile responses. Never have i seen such hostility in a public video game forum. You all take this game way too seriously.

Someone touched on the psychology of losing, and they are spot on.
The game has not PvP, we are all basically playing a solo game against player-build defenses.

So all they need is happy players enjoying the incredible tool box.

So what is frustrating? In most game, all genre considered, there is at least 2 things:

1- Losing/dying in a Ā« what the? Ā» fashion.
This can be from a game glitch, because a random grenade got you through a wall , because your pokemon hit himself 6 times in confusion, whatever impossible or improbable way.

2- not playing. A game is generally less fun when itā€™s not your turn. We are selfish that way. Never fun to just draw a Land in MTG after your opponent had a 15 minutes turn.
Being asleep, mesmerized or petrified. Not being able to do anything. Blocking a player is a dangerous game mechanic to abuse for any devs. It increases challenge, but can easily lead to frustration.

Currently, looping by the AI, either from Goblins or Infernus or Justice, I donā€™t care which, creates frustration. You donā€™t play. And you canā€™t do a thingā€¦

Unlessā€¦

Mab. Everything sounds fine because everything is currently balanced around Mab.
No problems is perceived. Because itā€™s assumed that every player as a full-trait Mab.
Heck, even the TDS solution is not to adjust the card explosion or damage. No. They just make it vulnerable to Mab.
Newsflash: TDS will loop as much. But now, you can use Mab against it too.

This will lead to boredom. You canā€™t expect players to enjoy being forced to use 1 card all the time OR be frustrated by unavoidable cascades of extra turn.

Could this be because you are prone to taking anything said in your general direction as hostile?

How many other public game forums have you even been on? This forum is relatively peaceful, save for a few bad apples.

@Sassy If I may offer this observation, you seem like an intelligent poster, something we need more of for sure, but you also seem to read others posts with a negative tone. We are actually, the majority at least, a fairly close forum family and we like to joke and pull each otherā€™s legs quite a bit. Try not to take things so personally and I think youā€™ll find the humor in what @Kurokazna intended.

Thanks for your contributions, hope you stick around!

I feel like we keep missing this.

I donā€™t give a flip about losing to looping. But Iā€™m bothered that thereā€™s only about 18-20 troops I care about getting, and once I have them theyā€™re the only troops Iā€™m going to use.

Thereā€™s no way to, say, try out one of Tacetā€™s ā€œlow levelā€ teams for fun at my level. I canā€™t go down to the newbie barracks and see if my pauper team works. So none of those troops matter once you start building T1 teams.

I like the idea someone had of a competitive setup with a rotating troop list. As we get more troops that gets more viable.

I still donā€™t give a flip about looping. Itā€™s part of the game, to me. If my goal is ā€œI play for a yearā€, the individual losses donā€™t hurt much, even as they accumulate. I still strongly think people want more skill associated with ā€œcompetitiveā€ play than a PQ-style game can provide.

Itā€™s sadder on weeks like this week.
We are often 2 new cards. We should be excitedā€¦ but after a simple glance, we know that we wonā€™t be using them ever if we want to win some PvP.

Sad.

I could suggest for a good balance thatā€™s not irritating, Psion, a rather powerful troop used by almost everyone at the highest rate, be trait adjusted so that it can drain only a certain amount of mana at a scull hit (maybe a bit more than its magic power) and not all of it, thus allowing more justice in a PVP fight.

Just a proposition.

If the troop creates enough frustration, I could see it.
I admit, Psion is not on my list. What frustrate me is losing the game on sheer lucky events, like post-explosion cascades, or unusual trigger rates of death mark, devour, evasion or resurrection.

Losing/Winning to Psion involves more skills and options than just luck, there are numerous ways to control that squishy guyā€¦
but thatā€™s me, I understand many find him annoying.
