I’m not quite sure what will happen when this first season is introduced, but I’m pretty sure the answer to their “promise” is Icons.
Any Icons that have been saved or not used by the end of a Season will be auto-converted to 10% of their VP value when the new Season begins, giving players a means to get a headstart for the new Season.
At least, that’s one way. Another one to look out for is a monetary solution on the weekend.

I’m definitely not climbing the ranks again, and I was somewhere between casual and a grinder. I’m back to doing the bare minimum for gold marks and ignoring whatever they introduced during this patch. I don’t even care to read the patch notes anymore.
I’m starting to seriously question whether I should drop this game for another. The other mobile game is a straight up gacha and P2W in some game modes, but it’s looking better than where GoW is heading. At least that game doesn’t require hours of grinding.
