7.0 Update: Underspire

Bosses 1 and 2 are doable without paying, and they make some resources farmable that we weren’t able to farm before, mainly imperial deeds.

Like other events, this requires us to spend gems on extra tiers so to speak. If you want to do that or not is all up to you, but I’d grab the first 2 bosses and double up on either the lesser orb of glory or the imperial deed (I’d go for this one - also gives you two EVK).

Thanks for this answer. It is not what I was hoping for. I hoped for more drastic changes (like full undo of graphic change). I really hope it will be enough to play the game as much as I used to play.
My question is when do you plan to implement those changes you mentioned? I don’t ask for exact date but somthing like within a week or month or something woudl be nice.

I agree, the ability to get two Epic Vault Keys a week (and usually for free) is HUGE.

Underspire also has the benefit of doubt in that the game mode doesn’t disclose a reward ladder, or promise a certain reward for conditions you have no agency over (e.g. Boss Dungeon).

It’s not Underspire, but in package with 7.0 : Invasion (I guess we’ll see the same for the other events).
Invasion gives acces at shiny ressources, but ask +17000 towers, +550/players. OK we have a double points with the captain (+225 towers).

I remember when it’s in week-end, the Invasion was the hardest price (4 tiers/players), but now is more? I really don’t know what represent in gems/tiers +225 towers.
It’s very hard for the lowest guild, new players…

My numbers are underestimated

This may be so, but I’m going to have to think about it. I’m very underwhelmed by the way they do things (like this) constantly. Up the number of torches provided each day, and loose the Valravens down there dropping torches, and I could easily consider doing it as a regular thing. But keeping it as is now and the ROI, for US (the players) remains questionable at the best.

There seem to be an underlying trend if making us play on their terms rather than ours in general. If you ignore PF delves you already had bounty that wanted you to use 1 troop. Then Journey was added with a set troop. While invasion and RB was easier with the troop is now forced with bonus points. The ToD now seems to mandate the doomed weapon which often aren’t that useful let alone having them traited. Trials are now set as well. How long before everything is mandated how we must play.

With vault being once a month i feel like 8 EVK per month from Underspire is pretty underwhelming. For me the only reason to do Underspire would be the imperial deeds.

f Valravens dropped through, randomly of course, and provided torches I’d consider putting more time into it.

This is a great idea. Maybe implemented in a new way since they are pulling preset teams from other places. Someone else suggested random treasure drops like treasure gnomes in some rooms. Both would make it more satisfying to play.

@Kafka Please let us know when the correction will be put into effect. How long is it—a week, a month, a year, or whenever similar to crafting a specific Dragon Boss?

We would value learning more about this as soon as possible.

I really enjoy the Underspire.
Unfortunately, the excessive amount of Torches required means you spend too many gems to get through.
I will not be doing US going forward until we get a rebalance.

The latest update is unfortunately pushing the game further into pay to win territory. There is now significant pressure on players to pay for guild events in order to acquire Shiny Keys, and guilds that are not stuffed to the brim with hardcore players/spenders are even worse off than before. Considering these guilds feed the “better” ones, I struggle to comprehend why one would want to make life increasingly difficult for them. Having only players in top guilds with access to shiny stuff will also make guild wars more unbalanced in favour of spenders, and cause people to dislike guild wars and PvP even more than they already do.

The underspire is also obviously spend bait, but not as bad.

I finished this week’s Underspire, having spent 900 gems (50x6, 100x6) with no need to buy Torches this morning – I had 2 Torches left over after beating Diamantina. Following the advice from the videos and the crowdsourced stuff above about the “Rule of 7 / Rule of 6” was spot on for me.

If I can get all the rewards every week for 1050 gems or less, that’s a win for me right now. The Orb of Minions alone will pay for itself this Wednesday when a new cosmetic pest releases; also getting one of each Orb of Glory is good for me with the number of un-medalled high-rarity troops I own, plus an Imperial Deed and some other ancillary stuff (chaos orbs, Epic Vault Key) and the ability to double-up on one prize of my choosing.

Mind you, this week was among the single easiest Underspires out there because of how well Goblins synergize and most other kingdoms can’t match that. So my mileage may vary going forward.

But for now? I’ll make these trades (Gems and effort for the currently offered Stuff) for quite a while going forward. It won’t solve many of my other roadblocks at present as a dedicated F2P player, but it’s a trade of resources I find very worthwhile.

I’ve been tracking how much many rooms I need to clear each week, and how much I’ve spent. I could save some gems if I stop being paranoid about running out of torches. I keep ending with extra free torches on Sunday because I buy a pack or two too many earlier in the week.

Week Area 1 Area 2 Area 3 Area 4 Area 5 Area 6 Total Rooms Gem Cost
7/17 25* 19 15 15 24 13 111 1250
7/24 15 15 29 16 17 19 111 950
7/31 15 16 18 15 14 22 100 900
8/7 19 22 23 20 13 15 112 1250

*I wasted a lot of torches on the very first day of Underspire. I actually found the dragon and gate within 12-15 torches, but I kept exploring thinking there was more in the first area.

as of this week i gave up on it… too much of a gem sink for what you get, i would rather spend the gems. on daily dragonite which i still need, than lanterns to get a pay off for 100 dragonite at the end, and thats if i dont accidently use my free lantern

Yeah it can be hard to justify spending gems on this mode when you need gems for other daily / weekly things. I don’t have much else I plan to spend gems on, besides guild events and starry pets.

I’ve also been using the minor minion orb on the starry pet as TheIdleOne suggested to save 600 gems there, so my weekly spending actually hasn’t increased that much.

Yeah instead of 1000 gems on starry pet, it’s now 400 on starry and 800-900 to finish Underspire. 200-300 incremental gems for all of those rewards is a good deal, in my opinion.

Saving on Starry pet, it will be 450±150 gems for: 1 ID, 2 Epic Vaults, 1 of Bronze/Silver/Gold Medal Orb, 1 Chaos orb. Count for yourself, theres a chance for EV to drop 900 gems at once as well. Should be worthy.

BUT, for those who have to spend gems on dragonite, it’s still way too costly

Now that three proper Undespires are through (can’t count the first one that started midway through the week and I was out on a road trip to boot), my initial skepticism has turned into - okay, it’s fine enough for me to do it.

Sure, if you still need to sink gems into dragonite, you’ll probably just do the free sigils or if you’re not late in the game, you’ll probably just do the free sigils;
but for a lategame account rewards (like those glory orbs the most) are worth the effort and cost.

As a late game player myself, i find the only thing in the Underspire that i cant get from vault weekend is imperial deeds.

Sort of.
Four weeks of Underspire guarantee me

4 bronze orbs
4 silver orbs
8 gold orbs

How many vault keys do I need to open for that?
I feel like vault events (and subsequent key openings) give me gems to spend on Underspire and any orbs I happpen to get along the way are a nice additional bonus.
