The picks were in, all the teams have been formulated and banners decided. The battles were to begin soon. The commish showed up and posted the first brackets and all the teams crowd around to read it. Many of the team leaders seem happy about their arrangements, and the commish makes the announcement that it is time to decide upon Lineup for the first round.
The simulations I had run show me the optimal lineup for my team:
Gorgotha up front to tank the skull damage - especially useful vs. sheggra
Deep Borer comes next, ready to offer the much needed mana to the third troop
Rockworm in the safest third spot in order to maximize his damage output
Emperina last to slowly gain mana and as a healer to anyone that needs it
This lineup should be useful in just about every scenario and my processors go over the basic strategy I will end up using.
Targeting Yellow gems first to fill up Gorgotha should give me a nice boost in mana upon his first explosion.
If Deep Borer is not charged from the explosion target blues to fill it up. Once Deep Borer is ready to deliver its payload, release it and hope that it is enough to fill Gorgotha again and gain an extra turn. Repeat this process until both Gorgotha and Emperina have enough mana to cast their spells, then finally release the Rock Worm upon my enemy.
Elwyn can take 34 points of damage so it will take 4 casts of Rock worm to knock him out.
Judiciously using Emperina to heal any damaged troops not only keeps them alive, but also makes them more deadly. Any time brown mana runs low for Rock Worm, Gorgotha explodes again, allowing skulls to randomly drop into place and an Emperina enhanced Gorgotha to slam his powerful teeth into the opponent’s lead troop destroying them quickly.
I am confident in my team, and ready to challenge all comers!
I think the arguing helps a ton. I feel pretty confident about which team will when then read the arguments and it feels much closer than I originally thought. Also interesting how good arguers get a subtle advantage.
A subtle goal of the Series is to get players to evaluate Troops they might not otherwise consider using. Factor in everything from Team Bonuses, Traits, mana blocking/denying, etc.
I’d love to “crush the meta”. I’m as sick as everyone else in facing the same combinations of the 30-or-so Troops everyone uses.
As an example, just now I decided to clear 2 Tasks at once, “Win a match using the Banner from Whitehelm” and “Win a match using 4 Troops of the same mana type”.
So I built this;
Herdmaster
Gorgotha
Goblin Rocket
Paladin
with Whitehelm’s Banner (Yellow/Yellow)
It’s actually quite powerful and I’ll be trying in PvP today.
Not supposed to vote for yourself, right? That said, last I checked we were at 50/50. His whole Warlock counters Wight argument is killing me, and it’s such BS!
