I was on leave yesterday but Gman ran through and grabbed a heap of these reports and passed them onto the team.
I’m awfully, awfully sorry to bring this again, but this is clearly NOT just a visual bug!
Top guilds are paired with ones waaay below them: even no defences are set. This wouldn’t happen if everything was fine with the brackets.
After the 5th GW we had 2k+ ELO rating, how could it be 5k+ now? And why dozens of guild have higher rating than us? Is this also “visual issue”?!
Some guilds, for example, “na rasslabone SOL” and “Fiara’s Faith” were expecting to climb higher as they had won all the days of the previuos GW. This didn’t happen.
@Fourdottwoone @xolid99 Sorry to bother you, but I trust you more than anyone else. Maybe I am wrong and stressing about this issue for no reason?
Even though it IS just a visual bug, it would be nice if we had got a comment, not just changing the name of this thread
I’m still chasing this up
My guild is rank 2 on playstation, and is matched against a guild I’ve never heard of with almost no participation. This hasn’t happened (to this extent) in previous GWs.
(Just in case you want another specific case to look at.)
Ranks shown also seem to be identical to start of last Guild Wars, at least for the two Guilds I care about.
I’d quite like to know what our actual rank was after last GW!
We are facing empty guilds that are not even in the top 400!
Matchmaking has never been this much off.
This is more than just a visual display error.
And like others stated, not a single guild got their rank adjusted after last guild war.
It’s not a visual bug. The ELO rating of every guild got changed, to what seems to be entirely arbitrary values. We received a very low ELO rating, putting us pretty much at the bottom of the heap. As a result, we are fighting dead guilds now, Tremmor yesterday (who didn’t turn up at all and didn’t set a single defense), Team Super Dooper today (who are also entirely unknown by the community maintained ranking list).
Rankings currently reflect the previous Guild Wars, where ELO ratings were still intact. I believe this will get recalculated at weekly reset, at which point we’ll probably need years to climb back up to our former rank again. And it’s not just our guild.
Then my question would be: what went wrong after last guild war that messed up ranks and the ELO system so badly?
And couldn’t they reset it to the values from last guild war?
Cause we can’t continue with the values we have now!
And, that’s more for @Jeto what about the Guild War Medallions we bought for this war?
That was a total waste of money!
Sure we get some extra stuff from it, but what’s the point with a totally broken guild war!
To be fair, that’s just buying an extra reward track. It’s based on your personal wins, which may be way easier to achieve right now if your guild landed in an ELO range populated mostly with dead guilds. Of course, there may be a few casual guilds who got thrown into a pool of sharks, those will have a very hard time to get anything worth the money out of it. I wonder how support is going to handle this.
Thanks for this. I share everyone’s concerns.
We will try and compile some data over the weekend. My observation, which I am very confident will be correct, is that the last guild wars ELO adjustments never happened with what is displayed currently. The reason for this as @Fourdottwoone mentions is the rankings are the same. Of course everything is wrong, but another observation I have is, the second gif below and a +0 ranking boost for a win…So that’s even worse as if so, no-one will move.
Others have rightly posted that they have not improved their rankings after the previous successful guild wars, and you’ve also advised similar. That correlates with our ranking which did not move, yet we beat a top 5 guild and won all 4 days comprehensively vs well ranked opponents. So I’d have expected us to rise slightly. Also remembering that we identified that our ELO calculation was wrong in the past, which ultimately Sirrian agred with, we have become a bit, let’s say not say deflated, but not far off, when it has been wrong in subsequent guild wars. I think out of all the new version of guild wars it was nearly accurate once, and that’s it. I don’t think we could mine the first guild wars data.
As I’ve mentioned earlier, everyone is suffering from the triple whammy of wrong ranking, wrong ELO score and a broken guild wars fighting wrong opponents. To actually look at that, here’s a screen I can post that isn’t very promising;
This was a quote last time out from a guidee;
According to my game reports we went 3-1 in GW with a loss to Night Furies. Somewhat unexpected, that. On the other hand we have beaten Na Ross Sol, Na Rass Nibiru, and, of course, Anonymous. Most impressive! I find it amusing that the only team we actually played out of that set was Night Furies and we actually beat them.
Last time out, the daily reset splash screen never got corrected. At reset, the wrong screen shows, like playing different guilds, and then later a new splash would come through or if you reload, the correct screen started showing, after devs did work on that. That did not happen last guild wars and has not happened so far this.
Another screen that’s concerning I think is this;
It’s the wrong guild in player data. It sucks fighting bots as you need Leshy on your team so you don’t kill them with skyfall skulls
So as it stands and that’s it from devs til after GW ends, expect no-one to move if this stays the same. Of course that does not even consider the sky high scores.
The biggest issue for me and no doubt many is apathy. How do we keep players motivated.
I’ll try and post numbers as said later.
Please shut it down and fix it.
That’s not the core issue, it’s this:
Last GW, the ELO rating of the #1 ranked guild (on PC/Mobile) was somewhat above 3000, every other guild was below 3000. Then something happened that entirely broke the ELO score, arbitrarily changing values to something that can’t be achieved even within years of participating. Rankings follow ELO score, they are still “correct” because they apparently didn’t get recalculated after disaster struck, that will happen at weekly reset.
Yeah well I said 3 issues, not just that one.
It’s not accurate. They never ran the code before release
That’s the result of this “vusual issue”. Active, GW-orientated guild VS dead ones which even didn’t set their defences. And +0 ELO rating makes it even more frustrating for us.
Now I’m really afraid that the leaderboard will be recalculated according to the current (broken) scores. Even if this doesn’t happen, we still might lose our position as top-5, because other guilds have got more than +0 ELO rating.
Please concider returning ELO rating to its state 2 months ago, before it magically got changed.
They need to throw the results of this guild war in the bin and reset the database.
I am hoping they can do that, I can’t think of any other good or fair solution to this mess!
We faced a ranked 549 guild on day 1, day 2 was a 2262 guild, yesterday we got a rank 2585 guild!
By some kind of miracle we are actually facing a top 10 guild today.
To follow up on my post. After all of GW fought, there was only one guild that had any defenders, and it only had two that I know of. The rest were totally sentinels.
Thanks for the free gold marks.
But I agree with the sentiments expressed by others. Take it down and really fix the bugs before you bring it back.
And today we are facing Rangers, which apparently also doesn’t have any players left. The worst part is, we are absolutely supposed to face those guilds. Some even have a higher ELO rating than us, which is why we are gaining so many points. The place we used to be located in is now at roughly 4000 ELO points higher. At 50 ELO each Guild Wars we should be able to get back in 4000 / 50 x 4 weeks = 320 weeks = 6 years, provided all the other guilds stay in the same place till then.
I can’t even begin to imagine how many things must have been royally messed up for this to get tagged as "[Reported - visual issue]”.
Funniest thing, but actually it’s not funny…
We are today playing the bugged guild that showed up (incorrectly)in player scores only on our first day. I shared that image in this thread.
Back to the future wars…
The wider issue with the whole game is the leaving of and not fixing bugs. For me anyway. There are even more bugs still there that are months, some years old and they rareky get ‘properly’ fixed. Some are ignored, Queen Ash awaiting proper targeting (agreed as bugged by devs) now years.
Like the summon bug, there is now a bug with Grimfeather (of all troops) when that summons its 10% chance of summoning an owlbear. That’s caused me 2 locks in PvP this month, the same bug as the EoE bug.
Bugs, they manifest like leaving food out for weeks.
Just pause the game mode and fix.
Oh one the dev team members worked on this over the weekend - the issue was caused by the ELO update that happens at the end of Guild Wars, run multiple times.
Originally, this thread was marked as a visual issue, as that was all the information I had at that stage, while I was still chasing up the team.
I don’t know why this has happened during this GW event, as I’m always the first one on for the day, so I don’t have much more information so far other than there has been new code implemented to prevent it happening again.
