[POLL] On the subject of women in GoW art

Guys. He’s a hot fire man.

I was just getting laughed at by my wife for this the other day… “why does that bee have tits?” she said. “You ain’t seen nothing,” I replied; “check out the hooters on this tree, and this lizard.”

I don’t mind, personally. But in the interest of fairness, I think the game needs about 1000% more dude packages and beefcake to balance it out.

I actually think this is one of the few games that I’ve seen different types of women troops. They range from all ages and sizes. It’s a fantasy . I don’t mind seeing boobs on a wasp/bee character. Again it’s a fantasy. It’s art. It’s all very subjective. I really like seeing some half naked men in a game for once as well lol. I like the direction the game devs have gone with characters here. Keep up the great work yall!

Yet another unrealistic beauty standard for women.

Shes too slim and therefore fits the so called model industry… Oh man!

See, it’s kind of like I warned, the replies to the thread sort into the general “must protect masculinity” mindset. Only some of these are invalid.

  1. “I’m a woman and I’d like to take this opportunity to mock people who are offended.”
  2. “I’m a man and I’d like to take this opportunity to mock people who are offended.”
  3. “I am not going to be ashamed that I like attractive human or human-like bodies.”

3’s the only person being honest in the thread, the other two aren’t even opinions. They’re just the same things people expect from gamer culture.

“How do you kill a gamer? Glue a bag of doritos and a picture of Tracer to the bottom of a swimming pool.”

“Why’s the gamer’s ear burned?”
“I told him the iron was a new headset.”

“Why’s the other ear burned?”
“He joined a new lobby.”

“Why did the gamer freeze to death?”
“There was a picture of a boob on the roof of his apartment complex and the temperature last night dropped to the negatives.”
“Oh hahaha I get it, he was so distracted by sexual imagery he didn’t notice he was in mortal peril, is there really anything more like an animal than a gamer?”
“Yes. Anti-vaxxers and Republicans.”
“I said gamer.”
“Ah, sorry, you’re right.”

You know, you can make a point without continually demonizing a political ideology that differs from yours.

It kinda ruins the message of how bad some of these replies are to evoke a “I’m going to mock you for a bad opinion” and then proceed to do the same thing.

In general to this general discussion topic, art and media can be a snapshot of societal notions, beliefs, and general culture at the time it was created. As we’ve seen recently in various movies, tv, and video games, trying to change art to force a viewpoint has been met with negative responses.

The problem I see with this general discussion regarding art is it evokes a more primal and instinctual reaction, do it seems like a tall order to correct overnight and has to be done with friendly, logical care to the message. The problem is on social media, enough of the vocal minority with extreme viewpoints shouts down opponents and refuses to have discussion.

This thread has been relatively more civil compared to the last time it was brought up and outside of cynicism, there doesn’t seem to be nearly as visceral of a response this time.

Nevermind. The cake is a lie.

Somebody get Gemhammer a sandwich. That poor girl looks more frail than Steve Rogers before he got hit with those Vita-rays.

My favorite tho is Queen Xochi. She reminds me of the pet chicken I had growing up. Curse you, Colonel Sanders, and all your communist pals too. Leave Krystara at once.

Very true.

Surprised no one here has yet mentioned the Green Seer art debacle. GoW’s art went puritan for a long time thereafter. Although, I’m glad that today that the developers have stepped back from that position and are providing a greater diversity of all sorts of creatures and genders these days. I do agree that there is definitely still is space for darker human skin tones on units in the game.

No they are boo bees

When the delve came out, some of us questioned why a bee had breasts. In other games, there are bee queens without boo bees or BUZZongas - so it’s not even an unpaved road. There was a small back and forth on what to call them. Also, she’s clearly the most nude character in the game, right?

Anyways, find that thread - it’s pretty fun I think.

This is a fair assessment

Also we apparently need more bee-ladies due to the two comments above me.

(Also I will not complain about more cat-ladies or fox-ladies. Also more Horse Lords.)

Honestly I would make more comments, but that would just beerail the thread even more.
