[Not a bug] "phantom" sentinel attacks in GW

Platform, device version and operating system: Galaxy tablet S7+, android version 13

Screenshot or image: Don’t have this

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened: In Guild Wars battle, the enemy team had a “phantom” (invisible to me) sentinel. The team was down to one last troop (The Wild Queen). That troop was fully powered up. Instead of that troop casting it’s spell, a “phantom” sentinel cast a spell on me causing terror on some of my troops, and then it seemed to gain an extra turn, because The Wild Queen then also took it’s turn.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
This happened yesterday in Guild Wars but I was too surprised to figure out what exactly was going on. It happened again today in my second battle, when I was in the Glade

Steps to make it happen again
It has happened two maybe three times in Guild Wars. Haven’t seen it anywhere else. Obviously not a fair fight if the enemy gets an extra, invisible troop.

Not a bug, that’s intended.
Your game simply went on for so long that it reached this point (you can look it up yourself in either respective patch notes or guild wars help article on Help Centre)

Keep Guardians at the beginning of their 15th turn, will cast a Guardian Spell.

This seems to get reported with every new GW event…

I have an idea: When the Sentinel is defeated, it leaves behind a “phantom” copy (perhaps darkened by 50%) in its empty slot. It is not an actual troop at this point (similar to the weird Terror swap bug, where a Troop card continues to be displayed despite the slot being functionally empty) but you can still click on the slot to see the Sentinel’s card and spell page.

Or they could actually explain the mechanics in the game, so people understand why stuff looks like it’s broken/buggy when it’s actually intended but not explained.

It’s clearly a bug. It happened to me today. When enemy team had 1 troop left (which is Fenix), suddenly a sentinel from nowhere cast spell CREATING A BUNCH OF ENTANGLE GEMS (?). I already looked it up in troop collection, no sentinel can do that.

Of course, because Guild Guardian is not a troop you can own - it is a special version for Guild Wars only.

Just scroll down to parts that talk about Guild Guardians and it will tell that what you experienced is exactly what was intended to happen, therefore - not a bug.

There are some changes coming to the GW Sentinel in 8.8, which I think might start to show some more information. But I have added a “GW Keep Guardian Spell Countdown” to my QOL list.

Actually Guild Guardians are Sentinels which players can acquire through Underspire. They are the ones who defend the Gate in GW battles. The only “unique” things here are their “special” spells that are automatically cast on 15th turn. Ok, I get it now.

Then the problem is the offical support article of GW POORLY EXPLAINS THAT MECHANISM. That’s why many players like me, especially mobile users, easily miss that part.

Like here “If there is NO PLAYERS defending a Location, a Keep Guardian team will fight in their place. Keep Guardians at the beginning of their 15th turn, will cast a Guardian Spell.” => How on earth is a player supposed to know whether the spells can be cast WITH OR WITHOUT GUARDIANS and what they do exactly?

It’s definitely badly explained and that information is never explained within the game at all. Yet another example of stuff that should be easier to understand but the devs seem to like creating confusion and frustration, sadly.

Fingers crossed. Thanks Jeto.
