then I agree with @awryan that you are looking for those who will help you not with the game, but simply will be just for you, sorry if I offend you, but as I said earlier I’m impulsive and also don’t like lies and veiled phrases
I agree on that. Before we didn’t really have any sense of direction of what to do other than trying to find bugs with the update being tested. Having certain things to focus on will only make the program more efficient for all involved.
I wonder if the testers will be able to test new troops before they go live in this forthcoming iteration… 'cause we weren’t before.
It’s unlikely that new troops will be tested. The primary goal will be the evaulation of new features and changes.
Troops work as intended upon release.

She made it pretty clear you don’t need to write poetry or kiss their butts. You just need to communicate actionable changes and be a civil human being.
That’s a pretty reasonable expectation.
I will silently wait for the questionnaire, and let them decide who gets and who does not, but for myself, I still read between the lines of their message
Looking forward to the next one. Already have my list of current bugs ready. XD
I have no idea what that even means.
You could report them if they are on the live version currently, but not on the known issues list. As opposed to waiting to see if it’s on the next beta.
Most of them have been reported multiple times and still haven’t been fixed. I mention them in betas as they seem to get more exposure then.
Some of them are also partially resource based and shouldn’t be shared too publicly. Or are so specific that mentioning them on forum likely would get overlooked, like specific steam specific bugs that controller has that aren’t present on any other controller based platform.
What kind of play time commitment is expected for a given beta cycle (ie., how many hours over how many days)?
What kind of things will feedback be taken on? I know beta members will be basically given sort of an itinerary this time around, but what about general concerns that fall outside of that? For example, are UX concerns or the general “flow” of a mode on the table for discussion (especially stuff that becomes grating after repetitive play of the game), or would they be locked in by the time anyone in beta gets it? What about reward structures for a given gameplay task (especially what kinds of rewards are considered desirable for a given player group versus what is not)? I know it is highly unlikely something is just going to be completely redesigned based on feedback (your dev cycle doesn’t have time to allow for it at that point) but being able to action little tweaks on these can mean a world of difference especially given that they are basically set in stone by the time they hit live.
According to @Kafka they do not support controllers for PC/Mobile.
I know this because I inquired why the D pad works on Xbox with an Xbox Controller but it doesn’t work on my S9+ despite all the other buttons working.
I find this interesting, but Animal Crossing definitely owns me in March. That’s not really a commentary on GoW from my direction, I’ve had the Animal Crossing release date circled so hard on my calendar for a year the ink bled through to October.
But I always lose steam after a while, so perhaps a future iteration. I’m curious to see how this system works.
@mithran wow that’s a lot of questions.
We will primarily be taking feedback on things introduced in the beta. There will be specific parts of the update that we are seeking feedback on. This will be the most useful feedback, with thoughts on other parts of the update also being valuable.
Feedback on pre-existing parts of the game isn’t the intended purpose of the beta program.
FFVII. But I have to keep changing the date.
Great idea, maybe flush all the beta team and have them re-apply at least once a year.
Maybe for the new program, have a little quiz with multiple choice options and a space for comments as well. Like, how do you like this new quality of life feature we are adding? Maybe a scale of 1-10 as feedback and a spot for comments. This way the people doing the beta testing all are required to give some kinda feedback.
I don’t know how much time this requires/involves players to testing, or how long they will have for said testing, I would hope its at least a week to beta test new major revisions & features.
we want constructive criticism and feedback. Well that’s good to hear.
I believe it was said somewhere that all beta testers must re-apply for each new beta test (with Tacet and Keylime excepted).
This is the second time the question of time commitment has been raised. It should definitely be answered in any call for beta testers. As for how long the betas run, historically it is a period of at least a couple of weeks.
That’s hard to answer since it will can depend on how many people are in the future testing server.
Regardless of that, my opinion is that if we have N people who can do X hours per beta patch and another single person who can only commit 30mins total of checking and commenting … then its worth having the +1 person for any amount of extra feedback. Provided the +1 person is going to abide by the rules and be useful and so on, of course. If the devs agree with me on this, then time commitments aren’t going to be a specific factor.
I’m more concerned with quality of feedback than a time comittment. I don’t want there to be a specific time comittment as long as we are gathering quality feedback that we can use. I think the amount of constructive feedback provided is more important than the amount of time. (This doesn’t mean word count, before anyone writes us essays in the beta. It means having ideas and lending your support to other ideas as well.)
