Guild Wars matching broken

We’ve lost last 2 gw being steamrolled by another high level guilds (we at high too but don’t mind competitive) , doesn’t matter. I’m just waiting to see how many times (months ) we should lose in order to become lower elo bracket to be actually able to play this mode. So far no reason to even try - personal rewards are useless, and gold marks unavailable

Is this not about the dust settling, those pairings are happening?

This scenario happening

Is likely caused by

Once everyone has more accurate placement and scoring, then we can reassess the brackets. So top Guilds aren’t paired with lower-ranked Guilds? That is my guess and not something I have been told though

Sorry if I am way off in understanding though.

This, I think, is a cool idea (more for the big feedback thread than here)

The concern I think becomes, well what if not enough people register for one, and we start seeing double match ups again, or a #1 Guild has no option for registering for a challenge really..
Am saving this though in my little qol notes

When should we expect a bracket type of system to be implemented, if at all?

The “old system” had brackets of #1-10, facing 6 of any of those guilds (because we fought for 6 days to represent all the different mana colors)…within that single bracket. Maybe we should revise this to #1-5 facing 4 of those guilds within that bracket (because we only fight for 4 days, but this might be changed, idk).

That system still has its flaws, but it would avoid the situation of #50 getting steam-rolled by #1. As it stands now, when guilds know that they don’t stand a chance, they’re just going to park at the gate, collect their rewards and call it a day.

…there are brackets/buckets already

Like a number of other modes in the game now. I’m just not going to play Guild Wars anymore. Since there are no stats anymore for the guild members so that everyone in the guild could see who was actually playing, i’ll set a defense team and then not play. Its not worth the frustration. I don’t even like playing PvP in general and only play it because i’m trying to get the weekly immortal leveled up. But once I hit the 176,000 VP needed for the free rewards I stop playing that as well.

With every re-work of a mode, this game gets less fun. Its probably time to just stop playing and move onto something else. I’ve been playing this game for years and it used to be a causal gem matching game, but now to keep up with everything and stay current its a full time job and I don’t have that kind of time anymore.

Huge brackets as we were ranked 188 and faced a guild ranked somewhere around 50. We didn’t win.

The issue here again comes down to the difference in ELO being (relatively if not absolutely) closer between 188 and 50 than, say, 5th is to 1st.

The matchups are seemingly all over the place because the ELOs at the top are so far askew and there was never an unscored ranking period like how ELO is supposed to be done. Fruits from a poisoned tree.

No. Dust settling is guilds moving from their current rank to the rank they belong in, based on how well they play. Pairing a #1 guild with a #50 guild is always a bad idea, because #1 is supposed to be the very best and #50 something borderline casual. Even after the dust has settled, you’ll still be pairing the very best with something borderline casual.

It’s up to you, but it’s probably worth beating the gate repeatedly until you get the win rewards you want. You might not care about them, but if there’s anything you do want, you can earn it that way.
Won’t earn as much score for your guild, but there’s nothing stopping players from beating the easy battle at the gate up to 5 times, instead of trying to do the other battles.

In case you have doubts around this, our guild is ranked somewhere around 80 in GW. We’re a mostly casual guild and rarely full. The guilds around us in the GW rankings seem to be similar, from what I’m seeing. Some have less than half full guilds. So, yeah, I’d agree with that.
I don’t see why anyone around that rank would be paired against guild in the top ten, unless you’re trying to give those high rank guilds easy wins. Which they actually seem to hate, just as much as the guilds getting crushed do, so bad idea all round.
