Frustrated High-Level Player: Time for PVP Changes

Just adding my 2 pence into the pot.

Level 2120, and it feels like the game punishes the demographic most likely to actually spend money on the game, insane way to conduct business tbh. Don’t act all surprised when that revenue stream dries up.

Then, the game isn’t pay to win. I think so. If you lost benefit paying, not pay to play. And play to win. Simple

If nobody paid anything, this game would very likely have to close due to operating expenses. This whole not pay to play thing on a free to play game is very narrow-minded.

I’m not saying you don’t pay anything. I’ve paid too. What I’m saying is that this game isn’t p2w, since at high levels, the few rewards discourage paying. That is, you don’t win because you pay. You also have to consider that it’s an asynchronous game. If you don’t pay, you delay longer, but you don’t receive any different things from someone who doesn’t pay. There’s a reason the game is already 10 years old.

Still getting the xp bonus on guild wars days, not necessary. I think it will be active for 5 days again.

I was looking for a place to vent and I guess this is as good as any. I’m only level 1500 but I totally get this thread. I haven’t spent a dollar since guild war changes and PVP. I’m vip 11, I think, so I have put decent money into the game. I find myself playing less and less. If I do play, it’s actually the treasure hunt. I’m just tired of the game. I miss ever defense set day for guild wars because no one thought to add a reminder in the game on Wednesday. Sure enough on Thursday there is a guild war icon. For fck sakes just put the guild war icon out a day early. How hard is that? The game is so busy now and I just don’t care to keep up. I feel like most changes have just made things worse. I’m an older player so this probably doesn’t bother most people, but there have been a number of changes that make everything smaller on a phone. I can’t play wo reading glasses now. That wasn’t the case previously. IDK, maybe I’ve just hit the end.

it’s not just busy, its non-rewardable for being busy here!

They didn’t realise yet that PVP is dying really fast…or do they? As a longterm player in the endgame couldn’t care less anymore anything related to PVP e.g. every 2nd fight is against a worthless bot/placeholder…was a good fight, good night. RIP

Another season has begun.

Reminder: a low-level (1500) account has access to plenty of 90 VP battles.
With the Blood Frenzy region bonus (×2), that’s 180 VP per battle.

For me, the best available option is 50 VP battles.
With Blood Frenzy applied, that becomes 100 VP.

We can ignore bonus points for in-battle achievements, since they are identical for both players.

As a result, each Blood Frenzy battle is twice as profitable for a newbie compared to a high-tier player.
Meanwhile, all those egg dragons have made account differences almost negligible - everyone just evaporates enemies with three back-to-back casts. No luck? Retreat → next battle.

At this point, there is absolutely no reason to be a high-level player after years of progress.
Only downsides remain.

All experienced players would agree with your statement because the developers initially made newer players be able to earn points quicker to “catch-up” to higher level players. But the fact remains. Stat differences with hero and Kingdom levels are negligible (especially in the Central PvP regions) when we are destroying everything with dragons that deal [magic x 3.0 to 3.25] +6 damage to all enemies.

You could make the case that newer players don’t have as easy access to dragonite to keep up with the power creep, but they could easily make the choice to use gems or gold marks to buy dragonite. Steady kingdom progress or dragon power spike. That’s a personal choice imo, and it’s up to them.

And as a 2300+ level player, it takes me about 5,000 battles to get my great general alliance rank back. (Even with using victory talismans and other strategies). I don’t know about you guys, but that’s a complete waste of my time and all alliance rank requirements should be cut in half (or removed all together) at least because it’s very disrespectful.

Are you also fighting guild members all the time? 35-40ish VP opponents most of time

I’ve basically given up on completing the free reward track in PvP, its just not worth it. I’m not buying the battle passes, its a waste of money, so grinding out low VP battles over and over against the same exact teams and players again and again and again just isn’t fun or worth the time.

I think I got to 150,000 VP by the end of the last season. When the max VP I get from a battle after the bonuses is normally 60-80, for basically no rewards, it just gets boring and frustrating. Which at this point, is a perfect description of what Gems of War has become, a boring and frustrating grind for no reward.

Yeah, I don’t know why PVP dropped so dramatically. I normally see the 35 and 38 point teams the majority of the time. My level is in the 1500s and I didn’t upgrade my stuff enough for my team score to go up. Plus, my team score is less than the opposing team anyway. It takes so much wasted time to get to 150k. I made it on the last day this past season

The last update has flooded the pool with a ton of lower-level “zombie” accounts. They’re usually easy wins, the way things were when this version of PvP initially debuted, but they crowd out the active, higher-level / higher-VP-for-beating-them players from the opposition pool most of the time.

After being part of this game 5 years.

Playing every day, this is what I don’t understand.

No one wins real money or prizes, so if I was a dev or owner. I’d look at feedback and think.

This costs me nothing changing machine code, but gains membership retention of long time players.

How everything is dealt with, on the customer service side of this company, is completely backwards.

It’s simple to run a company and earn money, give customers what they want, aslong as it doesn’t cost the company.

Maybe this is the difference in the thinking between a triple A company and a indie mobile company.

Small thinking.

I only play the easiest side of the PvP 3 choices.

I’m level 1751, and I get 70 to 95 vp on a normal day, and upto 180 on frenzy.

I honestly believe that speed gains more points than doing the lvl 3 PvP battle.

Because if your getting less points than me, and you do lvl 3.
That’s the reason.

Will add I’m in a guild in the 70s, so maybe that’s a factor to, I don’t know just guessing

Do higher guilds get less vp ?

That’s a good question. I am in one of the higher guilds so maybe? I usually only do the highest battle because I do it only in Frenzy areas with the Exp boosts. Doing the lesser battles probably is more over the same time, but using the boosts in my head that would feel wasteful. Might be smart to chart which is faster for exp over time. Just wish the Exp per battle hadn’t bottomed out. I was getting in the 70s to 90 before

Lately, I’ve only been choosing players with lower levels; it’s faster for me and I get more VP in the shortest amount of time.

In a fair system that didn’t intentionally abuse long time players the 3 vp battles would be easy medium hard with 30/60/90 vp payouts. We were told that endgamers are being severely punished so new players can compete but that’s complete nonsense because new players have a lot more important things on their to do list than play pvp all day. You know they need to work on all the things and get their stats and power levels up so they can also enjoy being punished for playing like the rest of us. At the very least bloodfrenzy should always have a 90VP battle. Instead I’m over level 2000 and getting offers of 40 VP to fight troops with 150-200 more life than me. It’s ridiculous and does nothing but “make” me play more and my response to that can’t be written out here.

I just can’t help but laugh that a freemium game actually makes a feature of the game worse for paying players.
