Itās childish to think that such views couldnāt offend or upset many people.
This thread hasnāt run crazy with memes and bashing. I think itās fine for him to express his opinion, even if itās deliberately done to provoke reactions (trolling). The best thing to do (as usual) is just ignore it and move on.
