7.3 Update: Battlegrounds

Same Arena mechanic.

Yep, about what we are figuring also but hoping for some details/confirmation from @Jeto on this as well as launch timing for the update.

This whole update sounds very heavily inspired by PQ3, right down to spending heavy resources to get a random highest rarity upgrade item (1 per week; mythic runestones in PQ3/Book of Deeds in Gems). I welcome it though since books are so hard to get in this game without wasting your life grinding explore or spending cash on every pass that comes out.

Have they published a date when 7.3 is going to be released? I’ve been scanning the topics and haven’t see a date. Did I miss it?

No, you didn’t miss it. It hasn’t been published.

Is the update supposed to really drop tonight or the patch notes were just “leaked” and we can expect that by next week?

It would be really odd if it was released this week after saying this? Unless we are going to be the testers during the last few days of GW this week :fearful:

Dragonite is pretty rare IMO you should be able to use it to craft the troop you want. The slot machine is running off players. Making the forge into a casino is something no one wants.

With no information on a release date so far, my response does not take into consideration the potential impact of releasing this update in the middle of the current Guild Wars, which I don’t think is a good idea.

The response:
This has the potential to age poorly if the new changes still cause issues in Guild Wars. It doesn’t matter if it’s the current Guild Wars or the next one. I appreciate that this has been considered and that’s the reason for the delay, but if these words do age poorly, I’ll find more humor in it compared to more competitive players.

With how much the game has expanded since I started playing, there are any number of ways for this to go wrong and no realistic way to account for all of them. I hope the dev team understands this, because new content will continue to be added and changes this significant to PVP are likely to cause unexpected problems. This is why I don’t think releasing the update in the middle of the current Guild Wars will be a good player experience, but I don’t want to stray too much from the main focus of the thread.

Overall, I’ll remain neutral on this update. Not everyone will like it, but I’m competitive enough that I will likely adapt just fine. More casual players are unlikely to like the removal of casual PVP and I’m not sure what the majority stance is on removing defense teams. Either way, I’ll see if I like these changes with the release of the update.

In my opinion, it’s worth giving PVP a try before judging these changes. For example, I like the option to obtain rarer resources from PVP now. Most veteran players need deeds and books for kingdom progression. I’m also a fan of the Orb of Minions. Given what I’ve already stated, it’s worth it to me to play PVP to obtain these resources, but other players may feel differently. Opinions can also change when the update goes live and this could go either in a positive direction or a negative one.

The absence of the pet gnome being mentioned makes me curious, but changes aside, I actually expect PVP to have an overall similar experience compared to now, so the pet gnome is likely to keep spawning like before. I’d like to see if this can be confirmed for the players that asked about it.

Also with this new introduction of ingame offer$ there’ll surely be many endgamer fomo whales out there to clik clik buy whatever they can find. Some are 24/7 ready to spend real money (to be the first - or something like that). As long as this trend continues and there’s enough incoming pixelmoney generated for the company they won’t ever change their tricky “tactics”.

Oh and don’t forget Sirrian’s opinion on that matter: “dis is sooooo mudge phun, yayyyyy”

Have they released the patch notes by mistake?? Because they usually post them after the update drops and they dont appear in the patch notes segment either some clarity would be appreciated. That aside pvp was way overdue a overhaul.

For the past couple updates already patch notes have come a few days before update gets released.
You simply haven’t noticed it.

That may be true but they for sure put them in the patch notes section. Which makes me think there just keeping are interest up over arena weekend. Which is no crime either just an observation.

@Jeto How will Terror work with Guild War scoring?

Based on past debacles [ahem] experience, probably the evening before they knock off for their Xmas holiday…

Like I said in the other thread, this is going to massively affect Guild Wars players who use PVP defenses to practice their games before they play them. I don’t go into my GW games blind and if you’re forcing people to do that you’re going to push a lot of GW players out of the game, especially if you’re ignorant enough to push these changes out before the current GW week is over.

I’ve got a couple questions regarding this update:

  1. If you inflict Terror upon a Gnome or Valraven that has a loot sack, and they run away because of Terror, would that cause you to lose out on the bonus loot or sigils?

  2. I’m guessing the gold booster will double your gold while active. I know that you get double gold while a GAP is active, so does that mean you get 4x gold from battles if you have a gold booster and a GAP running simultaneously?
