The justification may be simple. Arena and Treasure Hunt. What are the rewards gained from those 2 modes that effectively help advance in the game? Those are the modes that received few or none improvement through the years. GoW received so many new game modes with the need to get so many new resources and micro transactions that it become useless those 2 games. Anyone wants only a 3-match game? GoW is not this kind of game anymore. The blame is on us? Definitely, but not because we neglected Arena or TH. Because we are eager for completion and try to endure the continuous mess made by the devs.
Players have been asking for literally years for an update to treasure hunt. Its not on us those requests were ignored.
No players asked for the change in arena that removed the hero/weapons, thats not on us either.
I dont recall anyone at all asking for the UI update that caused headaches and visual issues and other problems that forced people to stop playing. Im not sure how the players did that one either.
Could you explain?
That is exactly the mindset I mean by my statement above, and the factor, that makes us part of the problem, maybe.
Letās picture a similar scenario: Imagine, your television would offer you points for watching shows and films. Some are āworthā more than others. Letās say, the neighbourhood, that scores the most points, gets a badge too.
Would you spend your weekend with Superman 4 on loop, because it gives you the best ratio?
Why on earth do we (and I definitely donāt exclude myself here) focus so much on rewards for something, that supposedly should be fun on itself?
(And now that I pictured that gamification of TV, Iām worried, that this will happen within the next five years tooā¦)
Then we will eventually come full circle because all the nonpopukar shows will be dropped due to lackmof subscribers and ad spend, and weāll be back to 4 channels like in the olden days
Even with better rewards I wouldnāt find arena of treasure hunt fun.
Agreed. GoW was never about the match-3 aspect for me. If I wanted that Iād play Candy Crush or something lol. I enjoy the game because of the team-building, collecting, upgrading, unlocking. The gameplay itself is simple and easy to do wherever I am. TH is the most boring mode for me because there is only matching without RPG elements.
That being said, I do think itās neat when games implement a variety of modes with different styles of play.
TL;DR: Even if you pay real money, you can never catch up with Shiny Troops. Is this intentional or an oversight?
A single troop needs 35 tokens to reach level 3
With the % given on the Shiny Chests page, you can expect ~1.53 tokens per shiny chest.
~23 (22.87) keys needed to get 35 tokens (if they werenāt troop-specific)
You can get 7 keys & 5 tokens each week if your guild completes the event, thatās 15.71 tokens.
Not even half of what is needed
IF you buy the Headstart (4 keys & 5 tokens) and Heroic Booster (4 keys), you get another 17.24 tokens.
So you end up with 32.95 tokens each week at best, while each new troop requires 35 tokens.
Very later on, when you actually manage to max a few troops, tokens will be converted to 5 shiny dust, which can be used for tokens of a troop that can still be leveled, but require 100 shiny dust, further reducing the amount of Shiny tokens you can acquire each week.
On top of the above mentioned problem, we still need an additional 1050 tokens for the initially released 30 shiny troops.
So with the expected 1.53% drop chance for any token, we need at least 23 keys every week to even stay on par. With a few exceptions of good/bad luck what will eventually even out.
Iāll just add numbers to the equation in case we are aiming for a completion of all current and new released troop in a years time.
That would mean another 13.19 tokens each week totaling in on 29 keys we need in all of the next (technically starting when 7.0 released) 52 weeks.
Right. And even if you could get a troop maxed by spending $20/week, would you? Unless youāre rabid about PVP or GW, the shiny benefits are not enough to change your overall game play. No thanks. Iāll take whatever shiny stuff is free and spend money on things with better value within the game.
Itās probably been mentioned before, but 1 token being converted into 5 shiny dust is garbage. I thought converting 5 medals into the next highest rarity was bad, but they really outdid themselves on this.
Uāre telling me u need 20 tokens to convert shiny dust into a single token? Itās like the problem we had with gold medaling mythics before glory orbs and under spire but much worse.
I know shiny troops r the most recent feature, but please be more considerate when decisions like these are made. A response from @Kafka, @Bramble, or anyone else on this issue would be most appreciated.
At the rate we get shiny tokens and keys, we will be long dead before we max all troops to shiny level 3.
This was also said for Elite Levels, which while still a long grind, have become much more manageable, and books of deeds for kingdoms. I think we freak out a little too much whenever a new bottlenecked resource comes out. This is normal in GoW and most games with a comparable economy. This bottleneck too will loosen in time as more troops get shiny variations.
Has it? It only āfeelsā more manageable since itās been out for years.
The only real āhelpā theyāve given is the Underspire orbs for those that bother to do it.
Vault orbs are nice, but are inconsistent at best for actual progress.
and what exactly have they done for Book of Deeds?
Buying deeds for gems from the Merchant?
Flash offers for books that seems to have disappeared?
Paying money for books during Legendās Reborn?
Buying each campaign pass?
More Journey events, which just started?
Thereās something really off about this system.
During World Event weeks, thereās no headstart flash offer for tokens and thereās no tokens in the 12 stages of rewardsā¦
So in this 5 week perma-cycle we have, upgrades go to:
- Invasion event troop
- ToD weekly troop, with headstart offer/tokens from guild events
- Raid event troop
- Journey event troop
- World Event weekly troop, with no offers or tokens available
ā¦ so 3 of the 5 weekly shiny troops are stuck on event troops and the 1 of the 5 has 0 tokens for the week to upgrade it. Only 1 in 5 weeks has a potential to get an interesting troop with tokens available to upgrade it.
This system already needs a rework.
honestly, shiny keys just need to be added in more places, put em in bounties and other solo events at the relatively high tiers, and they would become available enough to not be an issue. As it is now though, its literally impossible to make progress on obtaining all of them, because you need more additional tokens per week than is possible to get from rewards, plus, once you actually max one and start earning dust, some of your tokens will actually just be 1/20 of a token instead. So yea, i get its still new, but there NEED to be more shiny keys available, the current number (and difficulty of reaching them if your not in a top guild) is just ridiculous right now.
Yes, more keys are needed.
But 3 of 5 shiny troops every 5 weeks are getting diverted to event troops, which dont have a good history of being useful. (Journey is fine now, but after the initial 6 loopers, who knows what the Journey troops will be released as)
The developers could go down the road of adding in every troop type having a journey troop. This would go along with their plan of scheduling more journey events without repeated journey captains. However, it could saturate the game into only using these troops, which would be bad. Why use unique strategies to defeat enemies when u can just loop the enemy team to death?
Some troops will be stronger than others and will give us guild war nightmares. (Cough* divine troop with yellow gem spawn based on divine allies)
Thatās how itās supposed to work. They introduce a new resource, itās very rare and hard to come by (which makes it easier to sell). With time, it gets introduced in other areas and becomes a bit less rare, but still rare enough to make some people want to spend gems/$$$ to get it faster.
At the moment, I am unconcerned about shiny stuff. The benefit of shiny troops is minuscule and until they are required for something (kingdom power 30+ no doubt), I can just collect what I can get for free and then ignore them. By the time they do become required, hopefully the devs will have provided more ways to get them or alternatives (shiny orb anyone?) or a way to target a troop (not holding my breath for this one).
At this point, the whole shiny business is just a way to sell head start offers. Because from where Iām sitting, the only actual benefit to shiny troops is new troops needing a bit less mana/being stronger for the current event. If youāre going for leaderboard, that can make an actual difference. For anyone else, shiny is nice to have, but ultimately doesnāt do much for us. Or am I missing something? (other than stocking up on shiny troops for when they are needed)
It depends on the troop. For instance, the shiny effect does a lot for Huntmaster Arborius as one extra gem generation at the amount it already makes can be the difference between getting an extra turn or missing. The extra mana discount can also matter a lot. At 10 mana, Huntmaster is a 1 3 match mana surge to go from 2 ā 10 with a +2 banner. At 11/12 mana, itāll be short 1/2 mana.
It relies on people using the troop though and it really is pay to win in its current implementation. So naturally, people will somehow say itās some pay to win faster.
Iām less worried about the individual troops though, and more concerned all of the shiny upgrades going to event troops that arenāt likely to be useful at all. This system should have more troops like Jeweled Golem and less troops like The Iron Maiden and Triton Guard Mera where people will use that troop for the 1 week itās necessary, then never use it again.
The amount of Shiny Keys per week available to all is lacking as well, which is part of leading to why a lot of people donāt think much of the system.
And this particular sentence is in reference to Elite Levels and I will fight tooth and nail against any notion that theyāve made it any easier to medal troops up until the Underspire Orbs.
