We have two separate threads and this one where people talk about that.
Dear devs: if the main new feature, the underspire, is almost not talked about because the graphics are so hard to read, you did something very wrong.
For those of us that already have diamantina and the soulforge maxed, we need to have a better use for cursed runes and dragonite. When next week’s deep shrine and underscore packs kick in, we will start racking up these resources for no reason.
For those that need diamantina, it’s a costly way to earn dragonite needed to craft her if you are willing to pay up to 2100 gems a week (assuming you spend 300 gems a day for 15 extra torches) for the 100 dragonite prize (using a torch on final boss room) from the final boss room.
Long term though, cursed runes and dragonite might as well be called “fairy dust” because they serve no purpose once you have the soulforge maxed and 4 copies of every boss dragon. (I know that cursed runes can be used to make chaos orbs, but it feels undervalued)
It’s probably too much to ask this, but is it possible to just recycle these resources into gems? Every update makes more gem sinks so why not help us out a little more? Vault events are the main way to repair your gem stack, but the need to grind more and more is getting ridiculous to keep up with the new content being shoved down our throats.
There’s a new boss troop coming in to the soulforge at reset next week.
I’d hold back on calling everything dead content before they make the price astronomical because everyone keeps calling things dead content.
Damn those rewards are pure garbage… The minor orb of minion is great but that’s the 7th dragon! Not worth the gems you need to get 1 minor orb of minions. So with that said I will be ignoring the Underspire.
This is a really good way to sum things up. Though I am sure, if anyone from the team ever reads here, they’ll selectively only notice the few bits, that mention upsides. Would not be the first time, that an overwhelmingly bad reaction is sold as success.
There is still one future interface “improvement”, that I am scared will follow within the next few years.
Animated troop cards.
Imagine the current busy graphics, but with the monsters occassionally waving, winking or sticking their tongue out to you.
They’ll probably just reinvent the UI again in 2 years with more colors and smaller text.

How underwhelming this update is. Although I can read the cards, it makes it much more difficult to see what is going on.
Too much clutter.
As for the new game mode, I fail to see the point of it other than loosing gems.
Tried some of it, bought some stuff from merchant, ended up spending 200 gems and nothing to show for it. Rewards are rubbish and useless at the current stage I’m in the game.
It’s a glorified explore with added bonus of costing gems and limited troop use.
It’s a shame, was looking forward to this update, but it will be another mode I’ll be ignoring and probably play less now with all the clutter I. The cards.

It’s a cyclical thing. I’m sure you remember, how not too long ago, they turned all bright green buttons into a pale greenish grey. Or how the detailed heart and shield icons were replaced by white shapes.
Whatever they do to make the graphics worse, do never expect it to be just an increase of what is already bad. We are paying them money (well, some of us do; i pride myself to be still VIP zero) to come up with ever more creative ways to frustrate us.
Maybe they’ll turn things monochrome for a second whenever a spell or skull hits, then have the damage number flash up in the middle of the screen, covering the whole board.
Maybe they’ll remove such trivialities as attack, armour and life from the battle main interface altogether and have them show up whenever you click a button (in which case the troops itself and their mana amounts are blended out). Or they’ll create a neat little submenu for it.
Honestly, today is one of the many days, that I really hope, the game just falls apart. That would give me an excuse to finally stop playing it.
Someone thought they were an evil genius coming up with Underspire - an event that cannot be completed without dumping all sorts of $$ for minimal reward.
This evil “genius” instead came up with one more update that’s going to drive people away.

Notice that when the Armor stat is three (or more) digits long it is rendered at a smaller point size to fit the available space, while the Life stat is not (it is allwoed to encroach on the banner edges). Why is this inconsistent?
day 2. i have spent no $$, have spent 600 gems on torches, have spent 100 gems to skip dragon 1, and 300 to skip dragon 3, and am currently sitting about 5 squares in to stage 5.
it is highly likely that i will finish dragon 7 wout spending any $$, and could possibly go back and find dragon #1. as of now 1400 gems for a medium glory orb and 2 keys and an imperial deed seems like a great deal. if i make it to stage 6 and get 2 major glory orbs, it’ll be worth a lot more gems.
i think it will be likely most folks can get to dragon 4 every week spending no or minimal gems. this does not seem a bad thing to me.
it does mean dragonite is still behind a massive gem or paywall, but that’s it.
So based on all the info I’ve seen, this is an even worse way to get dragonite than just buying it ridiculously overpriced in the dungeon store over time. When are we going to get a way to obtain dragonite that actually, you know, lets you obtain dragonite at a halfway reasonable rate.
Don’t forget that they also changed the Chests Menu. Now we can barely see wich option is highlighted! They inserted so many things in one place that there is no room for a proper selecting border.
Exactly this. Of all the reasons I thought I might have to quit this game I didn’t expect eye strain to be it, but now suddenly it seems to be the most likely. The in-battle UI is now just awful to look at. Half of my guild is complaining about it in chat, and the other half doesn’t use guild chat…
It’s like a 10 year old opened Microsoft Paint for this first time and just put bright color fills on everything.
PS4 on a 60" 4K TV less than 8 feet away and I started feeling eye discomfort in under a half hour. The have been days where I played this game probably close to 10 hours before and never felt any.
Underspire itself isn’t a bad idea. But some rewards are terrible, and it doesn’t make sense to invest all those precious gems.
Don’t get me wrong, that’s a good thing.
Let the whales spend their gems and real money on getting some pet orbs and dragonite.
I’ll get to dragon two from next week on, with no to minimal spending. Three already sucks. Wisdom orb and 3 Gem Keys. Really? To whom is that worth any amount of gems?
Yes, 4 is better but then 5 sucks again. 6 is good but not worth investing all the gems needed to get past 3 and 5.
7 is forgettable. Not worth it at all.
So, good job ignoring your player base again and thus failing again. Let’s me keep my gems for better stuff.
