You get, on average, about 17 Gold per Gold Key. Here’s the math:
- Task 1 = 5k = 30 Gold Keys; 30 Keys * 17 Gold Per Key = 510 Gold; 510 Gold * 30 Members = 15,300 Total Gold
- Task 2 = 10k = 50 Keys; 50 * 17 = 850 Gold; 850 * 30 = 25,500; 40,800 Total Gold
- Task 3 = 20k = 70 Keys; 70 * 17 = 1,190 Gold; 1190 * 30 = 35,700; 76,500 Total Gold
- Task 4 = 40k = 90 Keys; 90 * 17 = 1,530 Gold; 1530 * 30 = 45,900; 122,400 Total Gold
- Task 5 = 65k = 110 Keys; 110 * 17 = 1,870 Gold; 1870 * 30 = 56,100; 178,500 Total Gold
- Task 6 = 100k = 140 Keys; 140 * 17 = 2,380 Gold; 2380 * 30 = 71,400; 249,900 Total Gold
- Task 7 = 150k = 180 Keys; 180 * 17 = 3,060 Gold; 3060 * 30 = 91,800; 341,700 Total Gold
Thus, through Task 4, you’re actually getting more Gold than you’re putting in. At Task 5, you stop getting back more than you put in, but you’re still ahead overall. It’s not until Task 6 that you’ve essentially broken even (240k Gold in for 250k Gold out). At Task 7, which is the last one where you get Gold Keys, you finally lose ground, but you’re only down 50k (390k in for 342k out).
And, bear in mind, that’s just Gold you get from Gold Keys, which are literally about 5% of all your drops from those 670 Gold Keys everyone in your guild received (i.e., about 34 Gold Keys each). So, strictly in terms of total value, they’re a super good deal even if Gold Keys aren’t that sexy on the surface.
Obviously this assumes you’ve got a full 30 people in your Guild, but the lower level Tasks are still profitable at less than 30 members. For example, you break even on Task 1 with only 10 members.
