The (Un)Official Console Weekly Event Thread 3 (No further updates)

Very soon like this friday? :stuck_out_tongue:

So what do you think @Stan? Also what is you feeling about Guild war?

I like it but itā€™s stressing and can be frustrating when you lost a troop lol

I think weā€™ll find out about Suncrest VERY soon. And, Iā€™m hoping Necrezza is the bonus troop for glory.

For Guild Wars, Iā€™m still making up my mind. Iā€™m in a pretty casual guild now, so I donā€™t feel a lot of pressure to maximize my points. I had a pretty easy time going 5-0 the first day, but lost my last battle yesterday when I tried to modify an all red team to battle a justice/mab team, instead of just using a team that I know could have beaten it. Iā€™m going to switch to using a mono-colour team when Iā€™m sure I can win and use my specialist teams to make sure I win against the nasty defence teams. I havenā€™t had a lot of time to play so far this week, but overall, I think I like it more than I expected. If I was in the top 10 bracket, Iā€™d probably like it less.

I can tell you i am in first bracket and yet nobody crying when someone lost a fight but i guess it depend of the guild.

Iā€™m sure it does depend on the guild. For me, the two wars weā€™ve done have been really one-sided by the time I logged in. We were way ahead on day 1 and way behind on day 2. No matter whether I went 5-0 or 0-5, it wasnā€™t going to affect the outcome for that day, and at the end of the week, weā€™re all going to get the same rewards whether we finish in 11th or 20th. I hope we finish around the middle somewhere so we can stay exactly where we are forever.

My wife is in a top-10 guild and feels a lot more pressure than I do. The wars are closer and there is more at stake. She worries more than I do, in general, so it causes her a lot more stress.

One thing Iā€™ll say that I donā€™t think Iā€™ve heard anyone say in any other thread is that the game is a lot more interesting for us when weā€™re both on the couch and one of us is playing. Before, one of us would play and the other would be on their phone, or half paying attention. Now, when weā€™re doing guild wars, weā€™re actively talking about strategy, suggesting different team setups and helping each other find good moves on the board. That has made the game more fun for us as a couple.

Iā€™m I more of a ā€œrelaxedā€ Guild. Top Bracket. Our requirements are to try. So the stress to win is entirely from the player.

I screwed up big time yesterday and went 4/1 because of it. I had the other team beaten down to only QMab. My Troop was charged for the win, but I tried to fill my Summons troop in order to get back 1 missing troop. The AI went ape in me, and I lost.

I noticed the lack AI Skull baiting does influence the Guilds W/L results. PC players are going to love Unity

Except the sliders donā€™t have any effect in GW, so skull baiting is more effective in GW than it is in regular PVP (at least for now). I was able to successfully skull-bait a couple times yesterday in situations where I probably wouldnā€™t have even tried in PVP.

After two days, Iā€™m leaning hard towards first winning at any cost, then using as many colour of the day troops as possible, then, and only then, worrying about summoners and trying to finish with 4 troops. Getting maximum points every day is only going to matter for the very top guilds that are fighting for the top rankings. Half of my guild hasnā€™t even attempted a GW battle yet, so it hardly matters whether I get a few bonus points or not.

Yep I know, the developers said they ran out of time to put Mana priority in. But still purposely Skull baiting is not anything I can mess with in the top bracket. I donā€™t need to list the teams Iā€™m facing, Iā€™m sure you know (thereā€™s a dozen PC threads about GW).

I just think that if the AI takes a Skull its a bonus turn for me as opposed to filling up his troops with Mana.

I know Iā€™ve been stressing trying to come up with mono-colored teams before this started and I eventually settled on a 3 color team that I had my highest win ratio. Swept through the first 5 relatively easily and still scored high even if it werenā€™t the most I could do.

Days 2 and 3 have been similar though I finally pitched an all Brown team that got a little lucky when the coin flip came up MUNCH in a do or die moment.

So while the strategizing is fun as I have been bouncing ideas with other guild players, itā€™s also a real anxiety when trying not to let the team down (even if as a whole I donā€™t think it matters if they win or lose.)

I know not fully relevant but just adding a little more to what was said.

Do you mean a team with 3 troops of the daily colour? If so, Iā€™m thinking of making this my default strategy rather than going for 4 out of 4. Iā€™m only doing my team planning one day in advance, so I havenā€™t even thought about yellow, purple or green yet, but Iā€™m much more confident that I can come up with a very solid team for any colour using 3 of the daily colour plus an off-colour board control troop.

Yeah. For example, these have been my teams:

Blue:
Emperor Khorvash
Valkyrie
Queen Mab
Mercy

Red:
Emperor Khorvash
Valkyrie
Draakulis
Void Portal

There was nothing I could swap for Valkyrie on the blue team to make it run as well as it did so eventually I stopped trying.

Further since those 2 are that good together, Khorvash returned the favor with Draakulis catching the extra blue. Void Portal just filled out the colors and won over Dragon Soul since he could summon and was Impervious (laughs at Kraken from the last spot).

Brown:
Gorgotha
Emperor Khorvash
Ragnagord
Kerberos

All brown for today. Tried several variations before settling on this. Ragnagord got filled on 1 surged red, whoā€™d fill Gorgotha and well you can see how it played out. Funny thing was Khorvash was killed off in fights 1 and 2 stupidly fast (Amira and Death Mark) but he lived up to expectations in the later fights.

Yellow is next and Iā€™m back to 3. Mercy is once again the odd one out but like blue, nothing works better to fill her spot. Purple will be 4 as I just really have fun with the lark I threw together. Green, no clue as I dislike everything Iā€™ve thought of and of course thatā€™s when we face Santaā€™s so the opponents will be overpowered too.

So yeah, by going with 3 at worse, I have far less stress and a stronger team to win. 5000+ is still great for the team.

I havenā€™t done my battles yet, but I was thinking of a very similar team with Sylvanimora in place of Ragnagord. Sylvia entangles the opponentā€™s lead on 4-matches, but that may not be necessary with Gorgotha up front. She also collects a fair bit of mana and does significant AOE damage when she casts. Iā€™ve never used Ragnagord much, but I will look at it before I start. I was also thinking about using Gardā€™s Avatar in that slot, though if youā€™ve been away from the game for a while, you probably donā€™t have him. Heā€™d be hard to fill, but does massive damage and silences demons (Famine and Kerberos, Iā€™m looking at you), so IF you can get a cast off, it should be really helpful.

If I were going to drop a brown, I might slip Apothecary in, but sheā€™d compete for Mana with Khorvash, and with Gorgotha up front, you probably donā€™t need the converter.

@stan it give you more points if you start with 4 x color bonus and finish with only 3 troops alive then start with 3 color bonus and finish with 4 troop alive

Ragnagord has Fast. Thatā€™s what makes him useful. 1 red match and you could be full, nuke to fill Gorgotha. Plus heā€™s a backup nuke if you need it.

I tried Sylvanimora. Yes Entangle was nice but again with Gorgotha in the 1 spot it wasnā€™t as important. Plus who would I drop for him? He was far less useful for damage and at best served as a backup mana generator if I stopped Gorgotha. Heā€™s not bad but wasnt good enough.

I have Gardā€™s Avatar actually. Fully Traited too. Very strong but a little too slow and blocked by Gorgotha too easily.

I tried Apothocary too and things were a little more stable, especially with Khorvash but yeah 1 will block the other. I put Apothecary higher up since she could make Brown to fill Khorvash. In the end though I thought I could win with the 4 brown instead.

Soldier

3 troops color 4 alive 175 points
4 troops color 3 alive 195 points

I know how it scores, but against a good team, if I lose one troop, thereā€™s a good chance Iā€™m going to lose them all. And losing one battle means losing half my dayā€™s potential points. So like I said, I need to be absolutely sure I can win first, then if I am absolutely sure I can win with a 4x team, Iā€™ll do it. Itā€™s nice being in a guild where no one would care about that 20 points, but would be impressed with a 5-0 no matter what.

Correct! also there is a great spreadsheet, but there are so many belly aching posts I can find it quicklyā€¦ ill edit if I find it

You make a good case for Ragnagord. I only have his first trait, but the stones are available this week at a reasonable costā€¦
