So, this might be an odd subject, but I am considering a move in the future, out of the United States. My husband and I both enjoy tabletop (pen and pencil) gaming, and I thought to myself the other day: how likely is it that we will be able to find gaming groups somewhere else? Often, we do end up making our own group out of friends that we run into, but if we move so far away from anyone we know (or anyone who speaks English as a first language) that won’t be necessarily as easy to do. So I thought that I would make this thread, and ask: 1. Do you play pen & paper RPGs? (DnD, Pathfinder, Rifts, etc) 2. Where did you join your current group/how did you find them? 3. What country do you live in? 4. If none of the previous questions really apply…if I moved near where you are, and you knew I was starting a campaign, would you be interested in joining? I mean, not that I would stalk anybody, but how widespread is the interest in non-computer gaming nowadays? Yes, I do know that online groups exist for this sort of thing, but honestly, there is no replacement for sitting around a table on a Sunday afternoon with like-minded people and just…letting go of reality for a few hours. (edit) Btw, specifically want to hear from anyone in Germany/Austria, as that is our preferred destination at this point --my husband has ancestors there ---

Very quick answer for the UK: war-games, role-playing, tabletop games, board games, etc are prevalent pretty much everywhere… not always seen as the trendiest hobbies, but are common enough 😃 There’s shops in many towns and cities that run stuff, or groups that organise via the net. ---

Not that you wouldn’t find your answers from this community BUT If you head over to Geek and Sundry, they have a huge table top community. They even put on a world Table Top day every year that gets quite a bit of traction. ---

I mean, not that I would stalk anybody, but how widespread is the interest in non-computer gaming nowadays? - yes absolutely if it was not too far (i do not have a car ) im also interested in an online group/method to play if anyone wishes to invite me 😛 ill most probably give a try to any roleplaying game ---

Thanks. I know about Geek N Sundry. I watch their videos on new board games all the time. I asked this community because I see the nerdiness and common interests run rampant all over these boards. So of course I will look into other methods of information, this is just one possible alley into the depths of fantasy that I do not like to live without. ---

I met some of them on a MUSH many years ago, and the rest joined later as friends of friends. We only play online. I used to play face-to-face with some local gamers I met in college, but real life interfered, and they no longer have time for it. > > 1. But seriously, I do recommend checking out your online options if you have trouble finding interested locals. All you really need is a chat room with a means of rolling dice. Roll20 is nice because it also provides a way of showing the players a map and movable character tokens for combat, and it has the option of voice chat as well. And Roll20 also has a Find a Group feature. If all else fails, you should check it out. ---

I tried to run a d&d game, still waiting for them to finish their character sheets so the group can go find a darn trinket! ---

Almost 10 years ago I played a D&D 3.5 campaign with a co-worker and several people he knew from teh interwebs using [MapTool](http://www.rptools.net/toolbox/maptool/). Aside from the co-worker, the next closest person was about 1500 miles away from where I’m at, and the DM was in another country. ---

Yeahh I play before D&D, like many people. also one called Kult. I love this one. From Spain. No group for years.
