Tbh there is nothing gained from cheap defence. It’s deskilling you as a player. I skip them sometimes even. Not even worth experimenting on really. A break is all they give I guess…
My judgement is clouded though…
Last week I lost to Treasure Gnome, Festival Cow, Fire bomb and Daemonicom (sp?).
I cast Tomb Robber on a heavy skull board, killed treasure gnome and cow. Ai cast - got a doom or bone storm and a Webspinner. A board full of skull traps. Webspinner killed 3 troops and a few turns later I lost in a pitched battle with hero 🌟😂

There is a HUUUUUGE benefit from easy defences: time saved. Most valueable resource in the universe.
There is just one thing without any meaningful benefit: setting strong defense teams. You gain nothing from wins in PvP defense. You are stealing 60 seconds of someone’s lifetime for 1 extra gem or 1 extra glory. This is nasty!
