# Question about PVP defend losses

Before I go spending a bunch of souls on potentially useless troops, I need to know if the trait bonuses (or regular effects) count when you lose a defend. Every once in a while I run into Valkyrie/Finley/Alchemist teams that I assume are used to farm souls/gold but they’re usually pretty easy to defeat since they don’t really deal damage. So I’m wondering if they keep all that gold from traits/spell activation even if they lose.

You don’t get the gold/souls/etc. from traits/spells for the AI playing your defence team, whether it wins or loses.
