# \[Not a bug\] My entire wasn’t able to participate in guild wars because of bugs

Because of this recent bug with guild wars my entire guild wasn’t able to participate! Devs I hope that y’all will compensate the Death Dealers Guild war this massive inconvenience! Somehow all members of the guild are able to adjust the opt in and out option for participating in guild wars! I’ll be looking forward this issue being addressed swiftly!

That is because everyone in your Guild is rank 2, minus one player.
It is not a bug. If everyone is not intended to have Guild Wars permissions, then they need to be demoted in Guild rank.

I’m seeing quite a clear picture of how well that would go down. From player perspective, guild ranks having permissions attached is just a side effect, they are mostly seen as a form of appreciation. Most players wouldn’t even notice if the guild leader could take away permissions without changing the rank.
Promotions within a guild can be done by anyone with high enough rank, demotions and kicking can only be done by the guild leader. This allows some flexibility while still preventing permanent damage that can’t be reversed. Why isn’t Guild Wars registration handled the same? It’s perfectly fine if rank 2 can register, just restrict removing registrations to the guild leader.

Only Rank 1 should be able to opt in or out.
Made even stranger by my guild that is almost 9 years old and wins about 50% of the new GW days facing only dead guilds so far this round.
How do guilds with zero members keep being added to guild wars?

All guilds were opted in to GW by default when new-GW launched. I feel if that had been opted-out by default, and guild leaders had had to explicitly opt in their guilds to participate, we would have a lot fewer dead and/or disinterested guilds clogging up the leaderboards and matchmaking pool now.

I don’t disagree that there are some improvements to be made with Guild permissions, but for this specific thread that was originally created as a bug report, I was just clarifying that it was not a bug and if their Guild does not want this to happen in future.. currently, the only way would be to demote some players from rank 2 to 3.

I would look in the activity log to see who opted you out, then have some stern words with them.
