# \[known issue\] Troop upgrade via "Max Upgrade" fails with trait stone error

**What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:**  
\*When I click “\*Max Upgrade” and then “Upgrade” I get an error - see screenshot. Upgrading a troops level this way does not require trait stones but I and error.

**How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?**  
_All the time but it depends on the trait stones I have and the troop on which I try it. But when it fails on a troop it fails always because trait stones are required._
