It looks like Sir Geoffrey the Fallen create 5 poison gems, _then_ create 5 decaying gems. The decaying gems can override the poison ones.
The usage of create X gems and Y gems appears to be inconsistent. For example Ancestor Brodir appears to create blue and green gems at the same time. While Sir Geoffrey the Fallen and Hollioke create one type, _then_ create the other. Spells that work differently from each other should probably use different wording to make that clear.
