**What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:**
I interpret the additional words ‘under or’ to mean any gem below where you are placing the gargoyle gem (otherwise these additional words make no sense….just delete them). However, if there is no green gem around the one chosen but there are one or more directly below (ie 2, 3 or 4 rows below etc) it does not poison any opponents.

This implies that the spell is not working correctly, or the text is incorrect and ‘under or’ should be deleted.

**How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?**
Every time

**Steps to make it happen again**
Cast spell, select a gem with no green gems around it, but with green gems 2 or more rows directly below it and you will see that none of the enemy get poisoned.

“Under” might mean “the gem that was in the place the gargoyle gem was created”. So basically:

1.) Select a gem.
2.) Poison a random enemy for each green gem in the 3x3 area centered on the selected gem.
3.) Transform the selected gem into a gargoyle gem.

Ah, I see how it can be read that way.

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened: Stone Mefyt’s spell says that it poisons a random enemy for each green gem under or around the selected gem. In reality, it counts only the green gems around the target, but not any green gems below the target in its column. How often does this happen? When did it begin happening? Consistently Steps to make it happen again Use the spell and…

Reported before Jeto took over, so unsurprisingly ignored by the ‘mods’ at the time.

I’m trying to get some clarity on what’s intended.

Sirrian mentioned it’s the Gem the Gargoyle gem replaces, so it would count the Gems immediately around (and on) it - but that’s not a confirmation of how it’s intended to work

I think the confusion is the text. It is (currently) the only troop in the entire game to have ‘around’ or ‘under’ within its spell text.

Not sure whether there are other troops which have similar mechanisms but describe it differently.

So it counts a gems around (x3 square) and all gems below (like a gems destroyed by a dragon gems)?

The way it works is it counts any gem it replaces, or any gem one gem away from the one it replaces. The wording does make sense, but it’s clunky and open to interpretation, like several spells in the game.
I think the use of “under” could be swapped for something better.
Spell could read something like: “Choose a gem. Poison a random enemy, for each Green Gem chosen or around the chosen gem. Transform the chosen gem to a Gargoyle Gem and gain an extra turn.”

Definitely a wording issue. Something like this could be better:

> “Choose a Gem, and Poison a random enemy for each Green Gem in its surrounding 3x3 block. Then transform it into a Gargoyle Gem and gain an Extra Turn.”

After all, what is the “create gems” effect if not “transform a (non-X) gem into an X gem” ?

About the closest we have are Golem-type spells where you select a Gem to explode, and it does a thing for every specific type in the (3x3) exploded area.
