I finally got it, on my first 5x chest, too. Changed my vote (just in case this is still of interest).

I play on PS4 and whoever I click on had the damn Hoard Mimic I’ve even got players proudly coming at me with their screenshots…  
I tried techniques like opening 35 explore chests / 35 Mimic Chests (it was long to setup) spent weeks in explore and by weeks I mean all day long 10 hours a day. Until tendinitis stops you…  
And I got no Hoard mimic. And it feels like I’m the only one around … It’s actually with diamantina and rubirath the only units that I don’t have … And right now It makes me wanna quit this game for good after seven years.
