Well if that the case , why not keep going with GW until they release the update? I mean, we got a broken troop for awhile and they didin’t do anything about it. Imo this was a bigger problem then GW ---

That’s what didn’t make sense to me Ricky. I asked about the broken troops, and the good news is that the fix is coming… The bad news is that you have to hang on a little longer. It will most likely be in the next patch on console. We just don’t know when that patch is coming yet… ---

IMO the reason they are taking GW offline is because it is an emotionally unsatisfying game experience. ---

According to this chart, it looks like things are going pretty well. They basically matched the all-time high over the July 4th weekend, so it can’t be too bad. It has fallen a bit since then, but it’s nothing drastic, and it’s still above where they were in Feb/March: [Gems of War - Steam Charts](http://steamcharts.com/app/329110#3m) My assumption is that GW is largely working but there’s been so much whining on the forums that they want to try to find a way to please everyone (per @MistyTheCow 's comment about it being emotionally unsatisfying). Presumably that meant they needed to take it offline in order to implement some of those changes. I also assume it will come back online and not everything will be implemented as there’s very likely stuff that requires an update to change.
