This is all valuable feedback, so thank you!
It might be best that we don’t have any spoilers for the next several streams. I’ll still preview upcoming content, but until we do a major stream previewing the update I’m happy to leave it alone. As such, I’m not sure if I will be releasing the gif at this point in time.
And yes, bringing viewers in is part of my job. That’s why I don’t release codes unless we make certain milestones. I do my best to be up front with you regarding my expectations, and I also don’t like to go back on my word. This sets a bad precedent in the future as well, which I would prefer to avoid. As such, whenever there is the possibility of spoilers I won’t ever attach them to a milestone anymore and will release them mid stream. Only codes will ever be linked to numbers. 🙂
All that being said, our next stream is a more relaxed stream! There’s been a lot of new content lately, and I don’t have a lot of news that I can talk about at this point in time, so I’ll be doing some team building, answering community questions and just generally having fun with you all. As always, I will have a bunch of different codes ready to go, and a full cup of coffee.
I’m using a new camera at the moment which is very exciting! Did you notice the change in image quality yesterday? (Also, autofocus is amazing and beautiful and very necessary for streaming. My old crusty DSLR couldn’t autofocus whilst filming.)

I see your point Salty ppl complaining about not getting the spoilers because some ppl don’t want to join. They were told that they were gonna get them then ppl decide not to show up so they don’t so, you say next stream you’ll get it. Then its’s the whole boy who cried wolf scenario. I understand but, you shouldn’t change it. It has always worked that way for you just it’s off it’s course this time.

I actually think that it’s okay to link other things to viewer numbers as well. For example - not sure if possible - I could see stuff like “In the next Dev Q&A, we will add 15 minutes to the stream if we have X people watching” - this could be an incentive to attract more people to it who might shy away from it right now because they think they will never get their question in in the first place, so adding “more time since more viewers mean more questions” is a logical thing that might attract people and make the idea of attending more enticing.
The real fault is just that an uncertain thing was made the main selling point of the stream in the last weeks. That doesn’t bring viewers in, it keeps them away since they don’t know what they will get. Attaching different things to numbers is fine, including spoilers. But then just don’t tell people about it. Tell people about what you will show for sure so that they know what to expect.
I think a lot of youtubers who do Let’s Plays do that right - when they get a certain numbers of subscribers or just a certain number of Likes on a series, they sometimes host giveaways or just do an extra video or something. But they don’t announce these things. I click on their videos because “Hey, it’s part 12 of that game’s Let’s Play, awesome!” and then hear in the video that there is an extra available. I get what I was promised AND a surprise extra. That’s good marketing which makes me want to check every video of the series.

Maybe they can pay me for views, then make their money by monetizing the channel. After all, each ad is worth roughly 5 cents, so if they paid me 5 bucks I’d make them 5 cents.
What, doesn’t make sense? Neither do cash shops or gem prices.
