Now that you two have made up I would like to take this opportunity to say it isn’t a big deal. If you really want to chat then why not use the forum for now. It could do with a bit more chatty chat chat instead of what appears to be repetitive guild recruitment threads and negativity. ---

I haven’t played on console: serious question, why don’t you just use party chat? I feel like I’m missing something, do you not get to see your guild mates Xbox/PS gamer tags? ---

You dont see gamertags on xbox. I believe it may be (unintentionally) possible on PS4. 30 people talking over each other would be a pain in the ass. Think xbox is limited to a 12 person chat too. ---

Yeah 30 people would be nuts; I just assumed it wouldn’t be more than 12 on at one time playing anyway but even that would probably be way to crazy. ---

It shouldn’t be a big deal because it isn’t a big deal. Anyone who is making a big deal out of chat being down for such a short time is a bit ridiculous. It’s one thing to be frustrated and ask them to fix it, but it’s another thing to act like the world is ending because you can’t go on chat for a few short hours. I could better understand these overreactions if chat was down for days or weeks at a time, but thats not the case here. It’s literally down for a few hours and then comes back up. There are about a million better things to complain about than that. No one is entitled to chat. They gave you the game and as long as that’s working they don’t have any further obligation to anyone. Geez what would happen without social media? Would the world end? ---

Your argument is made much weaker by the straw men you are putting in it. Take those out and I’d agree with you but leaving them in makes you guilty of the exact thing you’re pointing out as ridiculous: i.e. hyperbole. ---

Um, I fail to see that pointing out how absolutely ridiculous it is so be soooo upset over chat going down for a few HOURS (hour, people, not days or weeks) is a straw man or a hyperbole. Besides, this is not a debate. I stated my opinion. I will not defend it or play mind games about hyperboles or straw men… I think it is mind boggling ridiculous that people act so crazy about Chat going down. That’s my opinion and nothing you say or do will change it. And I haven’t seen any rebuttals that are convincing enough to refute the fact that it is crazy to be so upset and talk about quitting because chat goes down every week around the same time and then comes back hours later, especially when most of us know that the servers are shutting down at the end of the year and devs are in the process of switching over. ---

Our Chat servers are separate from the servers that holds our data, so our server migration that we are planning wont affect the Chat servers in any way. However, we did some digging around today to try and find the source of the problem. We found one particular issue and fixed it and are optimistic it will solve the issues it’s been having, but the only way to know will be when an active time comes up. If we still continue to see errors after this, we will consider switching server providers for the chat as well. We have got some alternative servers up and running which are running fine in our dev environment, but it’s a bit of an unknown how they will go in the live environment, so we are holding them back for now. As Sirrian has mentioned many times in the past, we are not a huge dev team. We need to allocate where our priorities lie and balance whether we work on new features or improve existing ones. The chat issue has come to the fore a bit more the past few days so we decided to allocate a bit more time looking into the problem. If it’s not 100% fixed in the coming days, we do hope to have it fully fixed soon enough. Thanks for everyone’s patience.
