I just opend the mail with the 10 Scorpio souls. Because I didn’t had him before I got the popup for getting him but the souls were absorbed by its creation. Is that normal or should I have him now **and** the 10 souls?

It is normal.  
Those ten souls went toward this (switching a troop from unowned LVL0 to owned LVL1). It always happens automatically.

If one happens to pay closer attention when opening burning chests, it is possible to notice that whenever there is a _new troop_ indicator you receive 10 fewer souls that what chest info page suggests you should be getting.
