Sad News... No More In-Game Code Giveaways

…slowly? :smiling_imp:

Not to derail the thread or anything, more likely to enlighten it a little with some humor, specially because it sounds very true to your points and because @Eika loves this man’s laugh…

Well, losing the codes system sucks, but i believe that we could have some small gifts send to all players in certain dates or after certain achievements that could be built in-game, daily tasks coming at some point for PC/Mobile, in a weekly/monthly time frame.

Send me all the codes in private msg and we will figure something out!

Still awaiting an answer on this one…are those of us on Xbox going to be the only ones who can use redeem codes, or since it’s unavailable everywhere else is that going to be scrapped?

It would be worth checking out other big game titles and see how their devs dealt with this issue. I bet there are some interesting workarounds that technically fit Apple’s rules but still can result in giving out codes.

You know there is a platform missing in this discussion: the MS Windows 10 store. Many game publishers assume this platform doesn’t matter if their game(s) are on Steam, but an app in the Win10 store can be run on any windows tablet without using Steam. In addition, customers can use Bing search points to get free Windows Store gift cards, which can be used to buy apps, and MS pays the publishers.

How many players would consider using their “free” Windows Store $ to buy some guild keys for their guildies?

Here’s a workaround idea:

Make a code an in-app purchase and then only enable this purchase (and make it free) for short timeframes during giveaways…better than nothing.

Were these codes even that good? I got a couple on mobile and it was a few hundred gold, souls and a couple of keys. Free is free, but not sure it’s worth complaing about.

Consider that a few extra resources does shows the devs’s apreciation for their players and you get the point. Personally removing it does no harm to me, but it’s not just not about numbers, it’s a positive reinforcement for the players and a extra help for the ones that are just starting out.

@Sirrian I like this idea. :smiling_imp:

I can help with that greatly. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Only problem I could see Apple bringing up in their defense is someone can cross platform their account to Steam, then still use the code, which would then be applied to their Apple GoW account.

A moment of silence for in-game codes.

My best memories from codes:

  1. Pulled a War with a gem key when he was exclusive, in the very end.
  2. Pulled a Mab, also from a gem key.
  3. Goblin King, painful Legendary to get, but still a Legendary.

RIP codes!

Does this mean that the devs are going to remove the redeem codes feature for consoles just to keep all platforms in sync? Doesn’t matter if Sony and Microsoft agree to it. I thought the whole point of hastening updates with console to PC/ mobile was for all three platforms to be alike. It was good while it lasted and making appeals will only be a waste of time. Better to adapt and somehow work towards making this forum more interesting for players who have not registered yet. Most don’t feel like they need to. So maybe the devs will give them a good reason to by giving new registered users a special gift via mail. Maybe hold contests to get whatever goodies and something from the shop with VIP included. All kinds of ways to market this game and build the fan base up. Just leave your egos at the door.

@sirrian you’ll find if you look carefully that Apple iTunes Store service agreement appendix xiv schedule 4b clause 13.3.7 prohibits any in-game troop from destroying in excess of 20 points of in-game Armour or any equivalent concept, and so unfortunately your Bone Dragon is in violation of this key contractual provision.

I owe it to my conscience to raise it with Apple, perhaps you’d best fix that before they object…

I’m okay with this. I will still love this game even without the codes. They’re just lagniappe. Half the time I miss the codes because I’m at work anyway.

Yet another reason to dislike apple. This is disappointing.

I love apple products but hate the dang company. I’m going to be switching away from apple next installment plan, although I will most likely regret it because I’ve always disliked android UI… but I don’t want to support apple anymore.

That is actually a really awesome idea

I like that a lot.

It would fit perfectly with the new event system.

Get in line, man.

So basically, even though Apple doesn’t own ANYTHING to do with GoW, they can influence how your game works? And WHY is this affecting ALL Platforms when it is JUST Apple making this demand?!

Personally, I don’t care one way or the other about Code Giveaways, I personally am just more pissed about Apple shoving their fat crotches in everyone’s face like some sweaty bully that no one does anything about.

Apple Store is a HOST site, that doesn’t mean they own you. Act like they do, and they will treat you as their property without ever having to fork over a single buck.
Also GoW is a Free to Play game - The Micro-transactions are an IF, nobody has to buy them, they are just convenience mostly, so how does Apple get affected by ANYTHING that happens in a F2P game?

Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Secret World, those games I’d get cause they cost money to play, and if they went through Hosts to show off their game, the Hosts would get a benefit. But with Free to Play? I don’t see what they could be gaining or losing…

It’s their store, these are their rules. You can’t find pornography in the Target video section either, even if a content creator wishes it, because they don’t own the store.

@killerman3333, what do you say? Should i offer $5 bucks for it?
Sorry to everyone, i’ve been absent from the forums lately so i’m still catching up with some jokes, but it’s all in good spirits.

Also i think that’s enough off-topic from my part, so let’s carry on and i hope for enough for options for the devs in order to discuss how, and if, we will still get some extra gifts from time to time but using another method of distribution.
