Discussion: Sexuality in GoW

If you are referring to the amazonian warriors i believe they chopped (fails painful to even write it) off one breast in orde to shoot bow and arrow more easily.

That pounding you hear in the background is Jennifer Anistonā€™s fist on Brad Pittā€™s door.

Boobs are great. Babies love and need them. Men desire and pursue them. Women covet and pay for them.

Boobs rule the world. Is it so shocking that they are in GoW?

It depended on which hand they drew the bow string from, and as some used both hands they would lose both breasts. I see the way women in this game are portrayed as not sexualized and more empowering, woman with lost their breast or tied them down to make themselves fit in with male armies. One such case is mulan, though there are many cases to be found, even spartan women would teach spartan boys how to fight.

There is a difference between ā€œsexyā€ and ā€œsex object.ā€ The trouble is that the line is different for everyone. In a game with minimal characterization, the best you can do (typically) is derive clues from the artwork itself. The complaints Iā€™ve seen here are mostly about where the art appears to be bending over backwards to show you that yes, this is in fact a female, and yes, she has gigantic boobs, even in contexts where it doesnā€™t make sense.

When the artist is drawing the character for the sake of the character, everything is fine. Some characters have personalities or are in roles that would dictate form-fitting or revealing clothing. When the artist is drawing the character solely for the (presumably male, teen-to-twentysomething target) audience, with attire or posing logically dissonant with that characterā€™s role, thatā€™s where some of us feel disenfranchised.

As someone who used to have a porn addiction in the past i do have to agree, porn isnt realistic and it objectivies people alot more than you would think. There will be a point where you cant even look at other people anymore without imagining and rating them as sexual objects and thats horrible. Maybe im old fashioned, im definately not a sjw for the record, i cant stand those people. But theres a serious problem with pornography. As societies we tried to uphold and enjoy values, restraint, dignity. We were better than animals, we were sanctified. Corrupt media like pornsites undermine that. That aside i dont care about what a fantasy character looks like, it either appeals or doesnt. Characters like valkyrie for instance do not appeal to me at all, characters like knight coronet do and he has bigger curves than valkyrie. Also we already have shirtless male cards, annointed one, winter impā€¦ etc.

They are ugly. None of them is meant to look sexy and to appeal to a female audience. That is where the difference is. And the problem.

UGLY?! WINTER IMP IS UGLY?

Fix your standardsā€¦ winter imp is majestically beautiful.

p.s. annointed one is 1: muscular (women like that) and 2: mysterious (mask)
p.s.2 women cards arent ā€˜meant to look sexyā€™ either, they simply are or arent. the hag card isnt sexy either but its a woman.

You have absolutely no business telling women what they like.

Yes i do, they like experienced men like winter impā€¦, winter imp is steady, keeps his head cool and is also pretty snuggly.

You must be kidding. He is not experience, he is an old man!
Besides who are ā€œtheyā€?

I agree, and the opposite is true. However, telling people that finding ā€œover-sexualizedā€ characters is hypocritical then.

Save yourself a headache man. Youre opinion is too far out from what the general consensus is in here; my advice would be to leave this thread, put your feet up and have a beer :+1:

I dont drink, alcohol is poison manā€¦

I dont understand how women can complain about girl cards looking too sexy but refuse to accept the natural beauty of winter imp ā€¦or even the muscular masculinity of annointed oneā€¦ which is actually natural. ohwell.

And then scream at me for ā€œtelling women what they likeā€

I can tell women what i like whenever i like, if they dont like it then thats their problem.

Brad Pitt is not aging well.

He became married with kids, and stopped smoking de weedz.

Im more of a christian bale man

People said i look alot like depp before.

Iā€™ve never done that. So now you know at least one person :stuck_out_tongue:

In my personal opinion, porn should not be watched when you are in a serious relationship. I find it wrong (not to mention immoral). Luckily my partner and I are in a very honest and trusting relationship and feel the same way about that kind of stuff so Iā€™m never put into an uncomfortable position regarding pornography and whether to ā€œallowā€ my life partner to watch it or not. There is absolutely no need for it. Especially if it makes someone uncomfortable.

Anyways that was extremely off topic lol

Back on point, I absolutely hate sexuality in games. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with showing some skin and having some options for that, but when thatā€™s the ONLY thing you see itā€™s annoying. I donā€™t want to play a girl that wears only undergarments! I want a heavy armor wearing bada**, or a sweet stealthy full leather armorā€¦ I donā€™t want to always dress like I should be on the corner looking for some action, if you know what I mean. Fully clothed women can look sexy and attractive, too.

Nothing wrong with having the option for people that like to show skin, but like I said it becomes a problem when thatā€™s the only option. I mean, my old fashioned ways taint my opinion on the matter a lot. Some have called me a ā€œprudeā€ and ā€œuptightā€ (both of which at least have a sliver of truth), but I canā€™t help how I feel. Iā€™ve always felt that showing skin off was wrong and makes you look promiscuous. Iā€™m not religious or anything, either, so it has nothing to do with that.

Personally I like a mix. Something feminine but not TOO feminine. Something thatā€™s a bit more realistic, but cute nonetheless. A good example of a game that does that is guild wars 2. They have a lot of options. You can be a female and fully covered head to toe, or partially covered, or wearing barely anything. Options for all types of armor styles. So much variety. Thatā€™s what all games should have (that have armor sets anyways). Another example of a great woman in video games is Lara Croft. She looks so cute and yet presentable at the same time in the Rise of the Tomb raider reboot.
